I agree with your earlier post, Nate when you spoke of asking a child these sorts of personal questions. But Chelsea is no longer a child. And the first thing she needs to learn about politics is that nothing is off limits to the media! She must accept that she will be asked these questions- probably for the rest of her life. She must learn to have an answer for it because no answer is the worst answer!

Exactly.

The way Chelsea should answer that question is so say:
"No. Why did you ask?".

Has anyone asked if McCain's credibility is hurt because he divorced his first wife?

Very good point, garysherl. Nutty Joe, Chelsea is not a minor child, no, but she IS the child of Hillary and Bill Clinton and as such should not be expected to answer questions about their sex lives. Do you talk about your parents' sex lives? There's something inappropriate and creepy about someone who wants a person to discuss their parents intimately.

You are still mischaracterizing what the question is though. The question isn't an intimate question about her parents, it's whether she thinks her mothers' credibility took a hit from the Lewinsky scandal. Those are two hugely different questions.

And if you don't think women think less of Hillary for staying after she went on TV herself calling this a "conspiracy" and then had to stand next to this man after the truth came out, you are insane.

Nothing creepy about questioning presidential candidates' credibility after this major scandal that rocked Clinton's presidency. If she didn't want to answer the tough questions, she shouldn't be helping her mom campaign.

Well, what Bill and Monica did wasn't a conspiracy, but there definately was a conspiracy to bring him down. That was what I was referring to in my earlier post. And it is a documented fact.

Then a lot of people are insane, because they believe she did the right thing, and that took a huge amount of integrity.

Presidents can't walk out of agreements with allies and trading partners, nor from other branches of government, just because of their pride.

So should McCain's children be asked if his credibility was adversely affected by him divorcing his first wife?

Of course not.

Chelsea is under no obligation to answer irrelevant and speculative questions from sensationalistic publicity seekers.

A lot of people keep saying that the question was about her parent's sex lives. Obviously it's a problem with people not wanting to hear that Chelsea was full of crap or they really didn't pay attention to what the question was.

Yes, why not? Guiliani was dogged by his divorces.
Why ask me a question and then not give the correct answer? LOL

Well maybe she should just stay at home then. Because her refusal to answer this one will dog her for a while to come.

Why should she let the media pit her against either of her parents? It was not her scandal, it was her fathers, and I am sure she was greatly disappointed in him. But why does she have to share that with the world? And there are many, many, public figures who don't comment on certain questions, this is no different.

How does that question pit her against her parents? It's a yes or no question. It doesn't ask her opinion of the scandal, just in her opinion, did it hurt her mother's credibility? Surely she has an opinion. Or she could just lie and say "no".
