I disagree. I don't think it's petty to have a debate on the war during election season. It's called democracy in action in my view.

"I know you agree that with America under attack and U.S. troops in the field, our national debate on this should be constructive," Rumsfeld wrote Friday.

It wouldn't be petty if they didn't sugar coat the truth. Hell, they will even sugarcoat the latest pentagon report (because they have to). They will use their own actions that have sent a country into civil war as ammunition against their opposing party. Just as Bush used Kerry's Vietnam record against him this is no different. It has been a very petty regime... I mean administration. And people eat the fear up like it was a pixy stick.
