"You don't come into my country; you don't come into my congressional district and you don't condemn my president," Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York, scolded Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
| Statements like this only give credence to Chavez's complaints that the US government tries to act like it owns the world.
The UN is a venue for world leaders to address the international community in a democratic setting. Its forum is vital, especially to any possible development of democracy in other nations.
You can disagree with what Chavez says, but he, as a human, has an unalienable right to speak his mind.

Statements like these only show that there are at least a FEW people in Congress with some balls.
I'm particularly fond of the fact that, after his inflammatory speech, Chavez slinked out of the country with his tail between his legs. Good grief, the nut-less coward is already home! It's EASY to be a big alligator in a small pond - which is all Chavez is. He's like the childish bully who runs out from behind his Mama's apron just long enough to stick his tongue out at somebody. |

However, when he steps foot on our soil he should be a gentleman and polite. Don't you think or is only conservatives who have to follow the rules of civility? Do you think Bush should go to his country to speak and stand on the soil of Chavez's nation and call him a devil? Would that be okay with you?
Chavez needs his big fat nose busted. |

Chavez needs his big fat nose busted. | Bush has already declared certain leaders to be a part of an "axis of evil". I don't see how that is any less radical than one of those leaders calling him the devil back. As far as I'm concerned, they're both taking cheap shots to rally the emotions of their constituents.
And PLEASE, be a gentleman and polite on the international scene? Bush of all leaders doing that?!? Plus I thought you were one of the guys arguing on behalf of Bush's continued behavior of his "cowboy" mentality and his lack of etiquette when representing our country in front of other world leaders (ie, messaging the Chancellor of Germany, chewing with his mouth open, cursing at summits, etc.).

And PLEASE, be a gentleman and polite on the international scene? Bush?!? | Bush never said Venezuela was part of the axis of evil. I can't recall him every saying anything bad about Chavez or Venezuela. As far as Iran, Syria, and Korea, they are evil regimes. You don't think they are?
Is Bush not a gentleman simply because he says what he means and means what he says? |

You don't think they are? | As someone that isn't religious, and someone that is secular...I don't think "evil" is a fitting word for basically anything in this world. As members of the human race, every being has positive aspects. As far as I'm concerned, "evil" is just a point of view. Because you must remember, the people of those states see us as evil.
But I will agree with you that those three countries are among some of the worst political models; North Korea recieving the most disdain in that regard (and as far as I'm concerned, its perhaps one of the worst states to rise in the history of human civilization). Although I must say that there are many much worse regimes out there than Iran or Syria. Quote: |

| Yes, but isn't that exactly what Chavez was doing here?
