Considering he recently remarked that he was probably the only one actually interested serving the next 6 years in the Senate as opposed to a 2008 run for the Presidency, it's no wonder he'd say that.. I'm not sure he meant it as praise so much as sarcasm.

Spencer has no chance in that Senate race so it matters very little what he said.
