NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- Two years after his hopes for a Democratic takeover of the White House were narrowly dashed, former vice presidential nominee John Edwards said Thursday that he is making another run at the presidency.

Edwards -- who is calling for cuts in poverty, global warming and troops in Iraq -- scheduled his kickoff in New Orleans, still devastated from last year's Hurricane Katrina. He chose the site to highlight his signature concern of the economic disparity that divides America.

"I'm here to announce I'm a candidate for president of the United States," Edwards sold NBC's "Today Show" Thursday, one of three back-to-back interviews by the candidate on morning news shows. "I've reached my own conclusion this is the best way to serve my country."

He would probably make a good candidate for the Democratic party. A better candidate than Hillary and perhaps Obama. I can't be entirely sure about Edwards being a better candidate than Obama though...but Hillary, haha.

He's just another rich pretty boy. He is a one-term senator who bought the office. What's he done? Served one term as senator, ran for vice president and defeated. Wow. I'm sure he would make a real good president.

The Democrats will destroy him in the primaries and field a complete loser for the generals.

Then we'll get to hear all the Democrats screaming and complaining about "stolen elections" when their loser candidate fails to win the White House.

Here's a man building a multi-million dollar home going to Louisiana to talk about the two America's. Hmmmm hypocrite maybe.

Remember this is a man who made all his money as a trial lawyer, attacking medical doctors for not performing C-Sections and causing babies to be dorn with Down's Syndrome from lack of oxygen during birth. Well thanks to modern science we now know this is a lie. And of course, as a result of his multi-million dollar verdicts, medical costs have increased, hurting who?? The Poor.

I was also kind of amused as I watched the news - on TV - covering his "candidacy for President."

He's in New Orleans, 16-months AFTER Katrina, and he's shoveling dirt. He has a tiny little shovel, is moving the dirt about 4 feet, AND HE HASN'T BROKEN A SWEAT.

Is this a stupid, cheap photo-op or what? Mutli-millionaire John Edwards scoops the token shovel full of dirt in New Orleans.

Yep, there's a solid candidate alright!
