The point being we have the freedom to move about without having to show "papers" like Nazi Germany was back in the late 30's early 40"s.
Not anymore.
Would you care to explain that remark?

I just mean that with the patriot act we might as well be showing our papers at checkpoints. Throw our rights out the window.

If an when you are asked to show identification papers just going about your daily business then you can come back and say I told you.Until your rights have been trampled on and tossed out the window you cannot equate the Patriot Act with Naziism.

Wouldn't the only ones that should worry about that be the ones (terrorists, and crimaliens) that don't have papers?

Exactly.

If you are not doing anything wrong then you don't have to worry about anything.

Not at all. Everyone's rights are being trampled, not just terrorists.

If everyones rights are being trampled because of this Patriot Act to ensure a greater standard of safety for us Americans..then I'm all for it.

Shouldn't all of this be in the Patriot Act forum?

Just another abuse of 9/11. Never, under any situation will I give up my rights (especially to privacy). It just opens up a can of worms in regards to abuse of power.

Really? Because I went to Buffalo, which is about half an hour from my house just last week, and no one asked for my papers. I went to DC last summer, and no one asked for any papers. In fact, whenever I travel within America, I have never been asked for papers.

Heck, I'm an immigrant, and I don't have to show papers to anyone, unless I'm going out of the country. I imagine you folks have even more freedom than I do when it comes to documentation.

Keep in mind that I think that all comspiracy theories are full of shit, though.

"Showing your papers" wasn't meant to be taken that literally.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.
