No, they didn't. The floor trusses were hooked to the outer shell, then to the inner core (basically the elevator shafts). It didn't have the steel skeleton that most high rises have.

Not to mention the videos where thermate can be seen pouring from the towers (a substance found during demolitions that has a unique look when it burns):

And you know this how? How many other times has this happened that we have something to compare it to?

The reason it 'fell into it's own footprint' is the fact that the towers were built in a re-inforced hole. The hole itself, held the towers in, causing them to collasp as they did 'into their own footprints'.

Also, because the towers were built similar to thick walled tubes, there wasn't enough structure to keep them from collasping in on themselves.

I read where there has NEVER been a steel framed building collapse like that because of fire. The impact from the airplanes wouldn't have been enough to bring them down either.

I think what makes an actual conspiracy so unbelievable is the number of people that would have been involved. Nothing like that could ever be kept a secret.

Even if the towers collapsed "naturally" due to their "poor" design (which I have a hard time believing since I have seen interviews with the architects themselves saying they could probably withstand multiple plane hits) it still does not explain how this occured at freefall speed. The lower floors where not affected by heat nor where they affected by a plane hitting nearby.

There isn't another 110 story building in the world with the architecture of the WTC that has been hit by a 747 either.

And it was a combination of the hit and the fire that brought them down.

Seems to me more like the concept of Jinga...Start taking away some of the key fixtures of the building, then the entire building will eventually come down. The planes took away key fixtures of the towers, along with the weakening of the structure due to the heat, will surely bring a building down.
