I have 2 highway. I have a KJV, that was given to me when I was 12 years old by this old lady that lived across the street from me. I keep it more for remembering her, as I dont read from it that often. The Other I have is the New American standard. Said to be by far the most accurate translation today.

Biblegateway is a good start. I dont know under what authority they didnt list the New English, but I looked into it myself, and there is much contraversey in the translation.

Im not, but we live in the age of information. If you really want to find out about something, it isnt hard to do. Your already on-line, that was half the battle.

Don't pretend you know how think because the bible wasn't the only thing that has had prophecies that pertain to today's events. Nostradamaus, and other people such as Oracles have also said these things, which I would therefore have to believe in also just because I read it.
Well ND was wrong about alot of things as well. Where the bible isnt. The fact that he was right about somethings only proves the bible more dependable, in that the bible speaks of demonic forces, that have power to tell the future.

It has nothing to do with you personally but it does have to do with religion. The Jewish people persecuted many Christians when Christianity came about, the Christians had their crusades, and some Muslims have now perverted the Quran to fit their wants and belief of deserved revenge. I just find it rather ironic that they all have probably killed millions for their beliefs when all of their holy books apparently tell them killing is wrong. As for the Athiests at least they don't make an excuse that they kill in the name of a god that doesn't believe in killing.
In my experiance, if your looking for God, you wont find him in the actions of men. God is probably just as upset about all that as you are.

And I would like to state that this is just me expressing my opinion. You believe in what the bible has to say all the more power to you.

Well thats more than most on this board will give. Thanks.

Dear Grace,

Please tell me what makes for "much controversy" in the translation you name.

Bible Gateway is too new to have any kind of authority, in my humble opinion. I would think you would have to go back into church history to speak with authority for one translation and against another.

Wouldn't you nearly think the same?

Have a good time at your sister's home, Grace. Is she a Christian like us? If so do enjoy the fellowship. If not, keep shining, Grace.

I don't believe in changing anyone's mind, I think everyone should come to their own conclusions. It's said that the bible can be interpreted many different ways and I don't think anybody in this day and age could really interpret it 100% correct because none of us wrote it.

Personally I border on being an Agnostic or an Athiest, part of me wants to believe there's something out there and the other part has to see it to believe it.

I agree for the most part. I grew up praising god for everything I did or didn't do. God is thrown around like the daily newspaper, it just feeding you and feeding you, but It wasn't till a while back when I thought, what is God, who is God? I have no answer, but when people ask me what I believe I simply say to them, God is no man or women, God is my universe, the world that exists around me, the air I breathe, A higher power thats unexplainable. We chose our destiny, our fate, our emotions, decisions. The power is within us. If this is what is to be called God then so be it. Your God is my God, my God is your God.
Also Jesus Christ is not God, nor did he ever claim to be, for people out there and state that.

hence "Our Father"

That's what I basically did, I questioned myself about who and what God is and what does it all actually mean to me and I couldn't really answer it. To me there has been so many different religions throughout time that it just doesn't seem like any one religion is correct but that they all may have some aspect of the truth.

^^^Right. I just wonder why anyone would think that their belief had a corner on the market, or that their way was the only way to believe. It is people who are imperfectly suited to understanding the unanswerable questions we have. Yet we have no problem killing the ones who don't think like we do. I certainly can't see where anyone has got it right yet.
