I read it was designed to withstand planes in the 707-767 range, and I figure it is because the difference between a 707 and 767 is not that dramatic. And it was designed to take MULTIPLE 707's, so it can certainly handle a single 767, and most likely MULTIPLE 767's as well. --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- "There is no such thing as laziness. | Just something to keep in mind... Steel structures have burned for 48 hours without collapse previously. The towers came down within an hour. --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- "There is no such thing as laziness. Laziness is only lack of incentive." Retired National Security Advisor Richard Clark noted that a conspiracy that the buildings were sabotaged by government depends upon a couple of false premises: 1. That the government is competent 2. That they can keep a secret Last edited by indago; 05-15-2006 at 09:01 AM.

Link? Frank A. Demartini, on-site construction manager for the World Trade Center, spoke of the resiliance of the towers in an interview recorded on January 25, 2001. "The building was designed to have a fully loaded 707 crash into it. That was the largest plane at the time. I believe that the building probably could sustain multiple impacts of jetliners because this structure is like the mosquito netting on your screen door -- this intense grid -- and the jet plane is just a pencil puncturing that screen netting. It really does nothing to the screen netting". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XL4isaZRapY ![]() --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- "There is no such thing as laziness. | "Link"? It was on the Discovery Channel. The architect himself was interviewed - and he was despondent because they NEVER foresaw the kind of death that was wrought by the collapse of the towers. And the whole "a 707 crashing into the tower" argument is NOT the point. They did not realize what thousands of gallons of burning fuel would do to the steel support pillars. They did not anticipate nor plan that "scenario". It was their mistake. On the other hand, you're free to believe that the American government is such a genius organization that they could pull that off!
