I read it was designed to withstand planes in the 707-767 range, and I figure it is because the difference between a 707 and 767 is not that dramatic. And it was designed to take MULTIPLE 707's, so it can certainly handle a single 767, and most likely MULTIPLE 767's as well.

That's exactly the case.

Just something to keep in mind...

Steel structures have burned for 48 hours without collapse previously. The towers came down within an hour.

The floors were designed to hold the tensile strength of the weight above. When the floors that were hit finally collapsed from the disintegration of the metal framework, and dropped onto the floors below, the floors were not designed to hold up under a sudden jolt, and collapsed; and so on, until all the floors were collapsed.

Retired National Security Advisor Richard Clark noted that a conspiracy that the buildings were sabotaged by government depends upon a couple of false premises:

1. That the government is competent

2. That they can keep a secret

The 757 and 767 are larger aircraft, flying at faster speeds, with larger fuel capacity.

Isn't that the truth!!!

Multiple 707's would be flying at similiar speeds (Cruising Speed 550 mph) and would certainly have more fuel capacity than a single 757 or 767. However these planes could not cause a building to fall at free fall speed. Not possible.

Actually, it has been proven to be "more than possible" many times - even by the architect himself who admitted that the weakened steel support beams would let it collapse. And he even admitted what you refuse to believe, specifically, that it would become a "free fall".

Link?

Frank A. Demartini, on-site construction manager for the World Trade Center, spoke of the resiliance of the towers in an interview recorded on January 25, 2001. "The building was designed to have a fully loaded 707 crash into it. That was the largest plane at the time. I believe that the building probably could sustain multiple impacts of jetliners because this structure is like the mosquito netting on your screen door -- this intense grid -- and the jet plane is just a pencil puncturing that screen netting. It really does nothing to the screen netting".

"Link"?

It was on the Discovery Channel. The architect himself was interviewed - and he was despondent because they NEVER foresaw the kind of death that was wrought by the collapse of the towers.

And the whole "a 707 crashing into the tower" argument is NOT the point.

They did not realize what thousands of gallons of burning fuel would do to the steel support pillars. They did not anticipate nor plan that "scenario". It was their mistake.

On the other hand, you're free to believe that the American government is such a genius organization that they could pull that off!
