Right... Students who are gaining college educations. They even have organizations like that at Harvard. Clearly, there are college educated Republicans. Hell, many of them are even, shock of shocks, pretty damned smart.

Yeah, I don't deny that...so you don't have to be an asshat. And I believe they were saying that overall, meaning generally, the more educated you become, the more you support liberal and civil libertarian issues. I mean, I could just as easily present examples of liberals that are for a ban on same-sex marriages; but that doesn't mean there is an equal representation within the liberal community of pro and anti-ban people. That is why the teaching body usually tends to be more liberal and classical liberal than the student body. And yes, students of institutions of Harvard are undoubtedly well supplied financially. And then its not really a factor of education, but rather class. Many of those rich students go in with preconcieved notions, and come back out with them because they know the Republican Party will look after their pocketbooks as members of the upper class.

Hard to believe

I wonder why the consensus about education has always been that it makes you more liberal. It certainly isn’t only liberals that feel that way. Rove’s now infamous quote comes to mind.

What is so stupid about Republicans is that most are NOT rich, yet they support an elite agenda as if they were rich.
--- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope ---

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

As I've said while addressing Alias, "common sense" is bullshit, and alleged consensus aren't necissarily correct.

Is it so hard to believe that people who disagree with you might be just as smart, or smarter than you?

Somehow, I don't think that J.S. Mill (who is one of my heroes, by the way) said that. Granted, he probably felt that way. He was the quintessential classical liberal. However, that language isn't really consistent with his other writing or the early 19th Century. What's it from?

Nope, an actual quote from Mill. Search it in yourself if you don't believe me.

I got a bunch of unreliable looking quote websites, but no source. What treatise or whatnot is the quote from?

The ancient Greeks used to say, "You shall know a man by the friends that he keeps." Given the nature of their friends and advisers, what are we to conclude about the Republican party:
