Christians and Marijuana
I want to hear from the Christians on this board what reasons you have to support the prohibition of marijuana.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

For me at least, this is just part of a larger issue: to what extent should morality be legislated?

I still haven't made up my mind on this subject. I know that morality can be legislated (don't steal, don't murder, etc.), but true morality must be internal as well as external, and at what point is the government not supposed to legislate morality? I tend to not like the idea of everyone being able to do whatever makes them happy for the moment, because people are often deceived into sacrificing long-term happiness; yet I also don't think that the government should tell me whether or not to have five Big Macs for lunch because it isn't healthy. So... I'm looking forward to getting some input.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. ~Edmund Burke

I'm not a Christian..But I would hope it's o.k. that I express my opinion hev..

Ridinhighspeeds 2004 ----> Prohibit Legalizing Marijuana
Ridinhighspeeds 2005 ----> Legalize Marijuana

haha. I would hope I am not going to upset some of my conservative friends on the forums...

Tadpole and hevusa brought up many, many good points as to why marijuana should be legalized. This is why I changed my position on this issue.

If hev and tadpole think that other drugs such as cocaine, heroin, ex, etc. should be legalized, well then I would definitely be in a disagreement with them. I would hope they don't believe this.

Marijuana is definitely a more natural product than a Big Mac could ever dream to be. Haha.

When you have a completely naturally occuring plant that requires no human process to create a symbiotic relationship to the human mind... well you have something there that seems extremely moral to me.

I am really glad you now feel this way about marijuana RHS!

While I don't proactively support the legalization of all drugs I don't really think our society would be worse off if we did legalize. We could help junkies get clean needles and better access to treatment. But I also think we should send a clear message to people about the dangers of hard drugs.

I would stick with sending that clear message to people about the dangers of hard drugs. I wouldn't want to bring my kids to walk down the street witnessing people using hard drugs, shooting up, etc.

Episcopalian...Protestant

Differences from Roman Catholic

-We don't have a Pope or a leader like the pope.
-It's alright to get a divorce.
-You don't necessarily have to go to confession.
-Being Pro-choice is your belief. You can still attend service.
-Gay marriage is not a sin. Our church actually joins pro-gay rallies.
-Our priests can get married...(solves the boy touching)

Theirs a lot more but I can't really think of any at the moment.
