On Pot

I used to be the one arguing against pot. I've really changed my position recently. I'm not one to vote for the Marijuana Party but it makes me quite angry (well. relatively. y'know ) to think that they're banning this relatively harmless, naturally occurring PLANT. When kids are huffing aerosol (SO dangerous), mixing together commonly found drugs to make new ones, when prescription medicine contains a grocery list of side effects (and that's just the ones they tell you), it. is. absolutely. ridiculous. I've yet to meet a good reason that pot should not be legalized.

It may be the fact that over generations marijuana has become an addiction to many of the humans throughout history. If some of the anesthetics used now a days were known as "adictive" do you think that hospitals would be making it look like it was "alright if in dire need of it"?

Advil is a drug that soothes miranes. In my perception, marijuana also soothes pain.

Yes, if you OD on mariuana, you can die. Same with all medications. Just becaue it's nationally known as harmful, it isn't used. Advil is constantly being used as am implement for suicide. That isn't the case fr marijuana. I am aware that marijuana has killed, but it wasn't from over doseing. It is physically impossible to OD from marijuana. You can't consume enoug to overdose.

I am for Medical Marijuna. That is my perception... doesn't have to be yours.
Pot has NEVER killed anyone, and i have look.the only thing wrong with pot is the cost.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL THAT DEFENDS HER..

Here's an article about the DEA raiding an office in L.A. yesterday. Just where does one draw the line?

U.S. House votes down change to end federal raids on medical marijuana

By JEWELS PHRANER
July 27, 2007 | 2:00 a.m. CST
Columbia- The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday night voted down the latest medicinal marijuana bill, which sought to keep residents of states that allow marijuana for medicinal purposes safe from federal raids.

The Hinchey Amendment was denied in a 262-165 vote, gaining two more votes of approval this summer, in its fifth try through the House.
Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y. plans to try again and will push this amendment next summer, said Jeff Lieberson, a spokesman for Hinchey.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

I have never heard of death by pot OD, sheesh, that'd be a WHOLE LOTTA smoke! LOL. The reason I support decriminaliztion and/or legalization 100% is economic. 1.There are far too many people in prison; some for decades, for marijuana. That's big dollars in arrest/prosecution/incarceration. One of the biggest costs is the taking up of a bed that would be better served by keeping violent/sexual offenders their full terms, and giving fathers/mothers back to their families to pay taxes and support their children instead of social services.
2. Free up law enforcement/court systems and heavily overworked probation officers for better protection and swift punishment, better supervision of thieves, sexual predators, cocaine/meth dealers.........addicts (users, not sellers) in rehab to eventually reduce the demand. Halfway houses are cheaper than prison beds.
3. Immigration-- not such a big stretch. If more Mexicans could make good money with a legal crop, they may prefer to stay home, closer to their families and homes. It would take a huge bite out of the drug cartels. Less profit, more intervention available to go after coke/heroin/ illegals routes across our borders.

Just the above 3 examples would free up MASSIVE amounts of money. We'd also make money, huge money.
4. Job creation. New large scale hydroponic farms need workers, shippers, machinery, supplies. (Hippie types tend towards environmentalism?) Retail outlets maybe, a new (US) meaning to Cigar Bars? Biofuel? Get your car real happy.......
5. The ever present taxes. I'm sure government could figure that one out.

It's a win-win-win.

That's ridiculous. What's your source on that statement, PN?

Hate is NOT a 'family value.'

Either from the hat where he keeps his magic bunny rabbit or from his posterior.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.
