Drugs and Terrorism
Not very long ago President Bush claimed buying marijuana was ultimately aiding Al Quada and other terrorists groups. At the time I laughed my ass off.
Most of it is now grown right here in the US. Practically all of the so called kindbuds are the product of someone's grow set up right here in the good old USA. The crappy commercial pot is probably grown outside the country, more than likely, in Mexico.
These facts make what the President said total bull. I got a few laughs off of this statement but then kind of forgot about it. Since I now only smoke pot I didn't really think about the other harder drugs. I have a letter from my doctor to smoke for actual medical reasons so I feel safe writing this.
On the other hand, I guess I do have the President to thank for my current way of thinking.
Recently, my area was flooded with black hash. People have been arrested for it here and I had a chance to get some. I refused to buy it, as I instantly considered where it had come from, probably Pakistan or Afganistan.
I have concluded there are some other drugs that could, or probably do, have a link to terrorist organizations.
Most opiates, (opium, heroin) originate from areas that may actually have Al Quada involved. Buying these drugs probably is aiding terrorists.
Cocaine may have some links as it does originate in South America from a region known for its death dealing drug lords.

Two bottom lines here.
1. The Government should decriminalize all drugs and supply addicts at a very low price. Register them, photograph them and make them show a pay stubb to be eligible. They then should make marijuana totally legal, reserve the right to produce it and grow good pot, charge for it and also tax the shit out of it. It takes pennies to produce pounds and we could be out of debt in a few years and put real rebab and education about drugs in place. We'd ease the bursting prisons and save big money on prisoner up keep and prosecution. We'd take all the money out of the terrorists hands and build our economy without investing our future in a country that is rapidly expanding its armed forces(China). Soon we'd have less drug addicts and we'd free up our police to go after real criminals. It worked for the Dutch!
2. If you puff weed, buy America!
Edit: Correction, buy local!
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour

Or buy BC *grins* I really love living in BC....Yeah, it's really senseless to buy pot that's not local.

[Not to hijack the post but I had thought: I think it's pretty ridiculous that buying things the government doesn't like is supporting terrorism. What about buying Shell? (near genocide) Gap? Nike? WalMart? Consumerist backbones and the crap they do (mostly) doesn't harm Americans.]

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

KABUL, Afghanistan -- Afghanistan's heroin-producing poppy crop set another record this season, despite intensified eradication efforts, the American ambassador said Tuesday.

Ambassador William Wood said preliminary data show that Afghan farmers harvested 457,135 acres of opium poppies this year, compared to 407,715 acres last year. The growing industry fuels the Taliban, crime, addiction and government corruption.

Everybody knows that smoking pot is the first step toward the path to herion addiction. From the moment you take your first puff - you are doomed. The facts are there. Almost all herion addicts smoked pot first. Therefore, you can draw the inevitable conclusion.

pensacola: Have a source for that heroin fact? In any case, "Almost all heroin addicts smoked pot first" doesn't mean "All people who smoke pot will eventually smoke heroin".

(or were you joking?)
