Is your life really that empty that you have to make the kind of absurd statements that you do just to get some kind of attention? How truly sad for you.

You have to ask? Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

| Wives are supposed to obey their husbands. Didn't you Jehovahs' Witness husband tell you that? | |||||||||||||||||||||

I'm only trying to help you understand yourself better! It seems like you are still bogged down in the "spoiled brat" persona of your early teenage years.

| I'll leave the personal issues between yourselves for you to deal with. As for the thread; I think the woman should have called a cab; or got a ride home from a friend. I don't want to try to explain (because I can't) the letter of the law in such a situation as hers. All I know is that if you get behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated; you will face substantial legal difficulties in every state that I know of. With what her blood alcohol level was reported at; I think it is safe to assume that she had been drinking for quite awhile that day/evening. That is why Ithink she should have just called a cab; or stayed home to drink. One other thing: is anyone familiar with dramshop ordinances? Where I live, such a situation could actually bring about the arrest of the bartender who served her (for serving her at such a level of intoxication); and the loss of the liquor license for the owner of the bar. I know many of us like to have a drink or two from time to time. With the Super Bowl this Sunday; you can bet that there will be many people who will take this to an extreme. I will check the Police Beat ( listed in my local paper) from my area after Sunday to see just how many DUI's got issued that night. I invite everyone else to do the same. I'll let you know my findings around Wednesday. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I firmly believe the day is coming when you will have to pass a drug/booze test in order to start your vehicle. I'm not saying when but it's coming. | |||||||||||||||||||||

I also think that, when possible, the police should arrange transportation home for people who are clearly drunk, BEFORE they get into their cars. We need to move toward a more caring society and I'm happy to lead the way.

explain the nuts and bolts science of this; but I know that if the unit detects alcohol above a certain level, it sends a signal to his local police department. I disagree that the police should be responsible for arranging one's transportation for them. I think it unfaily would shift ultimate responsibility to the police- when we citizens need to take responsibility for ourselves and stop blaming others for what is rightfully our own issues to take care of. But your heart and mind is in the right place on this issue- I can't (and won't) fault you for that. Last edited by nuttyjoe; 02-21-2008 at 12:37 AM.
