You see, I wonder about it though for reading that it could help my Mama who has glaucoma. That it could help my son who has epilepsy. That it could help a friend who has Lou Gehrig's Disease. I was wondering if it is all that helpful, why is it NOT legal now? Do the big pharmaceutical companies fear its legalization? Or do lawmakers know that it really is some awful, awful substance that is more injurious to society than alcohol and tobacco? Hmmm, I don't get it and so I thought I would try it out to see if the experience will help me realize the hesitation of the law. It is me, approaching it with a hands-on scientific method in mind, call it Experimenting! OD

| Well Dearie, to me it appears that for every study that shows how GREAT pot is, there's an equally valid study that shows how dangerous it is. The verdict is still out, and I doubt that pot will be legalized unless and until there is overwhelming and conclusive evidence that it's not only not harmful, but is actually useful. ...and that just hasn't happened. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| The verdict is NOT still out on other things that are legalized. Things that are proven damaging. In fact, Jefferson, why is coffee legal? Or for that matter, red cool-aid? Refined sugar? MSG? Tampons? Not to mention, diet pills, laxatives, cigarettes, alcohol? So let's legalize pot and then you can abstain from it, same as now... And others who read the positive reports can make use of it. OD | |||||||||||||||||||||

That said i would like to share my own experience. I tried smoking at age 14 ( i already smoked tobacco at the time). At the time i used to get paranoid like it was nobody's business. I kept trying every 6-12 months through my teens up till i was 22 and it was the same every time. didn't like it at all. However at 22 i decided that i was not gonna let it scare me. And i just LOVED it. I used to smoke occasionally , but since then my usage got pretty much out of hand. I smoked a couple of joints every day for years. It was the only thing that could relax me and the only thing that would free my mind to see and concieve some of the most wonderful and fruitful ideas in my life.. Once you get past the amazement phase, you get surprised at the clarity with which you are willing to see things. very often things that i had inhibitions about thinking about, would be easy to work through while under the influence. I have become a calmer and more patient man ( I was a hyper hyper HYPERactive kid). Or so i thought. The simple fact is that marijuana doesn't CAUSE peace.. it dulls pain enough for you to find peace inside yourself. It doesn't CAUSE you to think wonderful thoughts. It dulls the pain of painful thought enough for you to focus on good thought. It doesn't CAUSE you to love unconditionally. It dulls anger enough for you to find the love inside yourself. I have now stopped smokng every day. Now its once a week on sunday. And it's just better this way. Marijuana really keeps you from learning new things. What it does is make you okay with what IS. So while it makes you comfortable with who you are and what you do, it also takes away the desire and incentive to change. Please note that marijuana can never create anything. It can only help you focus on good things by dulling your senses to bad things. The point is that everything you can do under the influence of marijuana, you can do WITHOUT it. It merely makes it easier by redirecting your focus. Anyhow i still strongly suggest that everybody try it at least once in their life. If for no other reason than to catch a glimpse of that which is possible without the aid of any agent. And NO DOUBT it will have a POSITIVE effect on those who have no other way of reducing pain. Both in terms of their physical and their mental discomfort. Lastly, don't worry. It is not possible for it to kill you. Just in case the thought haunts you while ur high ( as it did with me int he beginning). Enjoy smoking, make sure you have water or juice handy, some munchies, a book or a TV nearby and in a place and environment that you are comfortable with. | Well I am a Democrat, so I don't inhale. That said, truth is that I did try smoking a Virginia Slim back when I was a very young teen. A friend and me hid under the bridge at the park. But I did not inhale, and that is the honest to goodness truth. I have learned that one can take their pot in a few different ways. A water pipe, a vaporizer, even in a recipe... Who here can testify to their experience with marijuana or THC by taking it in one of the other ways I mentioned? Wouldn't a water pipe or vaporizer be the cleanest way? I like to steam my face anyhow, maybe I could just throw some weed in a pot of water ? Hmmm, maybe that is why it is called POT in the first place! OD

However vaporization is by far the most healthy way of intake. If you have access to a nice vaporizor, where you can set the tempurature, you can get it to the point where it only ignites the THC (because it has a lower burn rate than the plant matter). --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. YOU are claiming that there's nothing damaging about pot. I'm responding by saying that for every report saying pot is fine, there's another report saying it's a gateway drug, and that there are all kinds of other problems it brings with it. In other words, the verdict is still out. Also, let's not make believe that somebody like Hevusa - who has been a pot user for years and years (even though, mind you, it's NOT addictive) - is going to give an honest and unbiased report. So go ahead and smoke pot if you want to. But I have to ask you - why are you wanting to smoke it at all? And do you think, as a mother of several children, that the risks are worth it? I don't know what YOUR choice is. But for me, I simply don't NEED to smoke pot any more than I have reason to see if I can safely sunbathe out on the interstate.
