The drug war is just another way the government tries to controll our lives.

You are right, of course A-c.
Quote:
"In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty is in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed, and in the next place, oblige it to control itself." James Madison
The logical proof that we have run amok w/ Drug War is this:

In the 18th Century, it was a Founding principle of the United States that Liberty is a:
1) Creator endowed
2) Constitutionally enumerated
3) Unalienable right.

But in the 21st Century, Drug War infringes or usurps this unalienable right of Liberty.

What's the contradiction?
Quote:
unalienable (ùn-âl´ye-ne-bel, -â´lê-e-) adjective
Not to be separated, given away, or taken away *
Now logically; how can a right which is "Not to be separated, given away, or taken away" possibly be rightly infringed or usurped?

It can't.
It's an unresolvable contradiction.

To anyone interested, Anti may have been remiss in omitting links to these data. But why entrust your own political position on it to ONE Internet reference. I believe if you each do your own Googling about it, you'll find independent corroboration of the essence of this thread.

It's not a "War on Drugs". It's a conspiracy to treason against United States citizens, by members of their own government.

It would also be interesting to include the number of deaths from prescription medications in this list.

Yup! Thanks!

Did you read the report on which your first link is based (in part):
http://www.csdp.org/research/1238.pdf
and do you agree with how they derived their numbers?

I was looking for it. I suspect that the PX drugs have a much higher death rate than pot, but I want the numbers.

Please forgive me Anti. I hadn't intended that as a homework assignment.
You done good.
Thanks.

As a child, aspirin was used as the semantic epitome of low risk / no risk pharmacology. "As safe as aspirin ..." was one such phrase.

It turns out aspirin can cause or contribute to stroke, stomach ulcers, and various other potentially life threatening conditions.
So to say marijuana is as safe as aspirin may be statistically false. Marijuana may be substantially safer than aspirin.
None the less, in the U.S., by federal law, marijuana remains a Schedule One drug (unavailable even by prescription); and aspirin remains available OTC (no prescription necessary).

Funny you mention that one... Aspirin upsets my stomach something awful and I can't use it.

Honestly, I've never studied the side effects of pot so it would be inappropriate for me to comment on comparisons.

If you claim that pot is substantially safer, you are going to have to provide proof.
