The dealers will have to sell more of the "other" drugs to make up for the lost pot business so you will see a decrease in those drugs. why smoke pot when I can get heroin cheaper.

If weed is legalized then why not legalize everything, is what most people will say if it gets legalized. And this may also cause more people to be addicted to the drug since its legal.

If Marijuana is considered a gateway drug, then I believe it would definitely support your claim.

DEA and others claim absolute proof that pot IS a gateway drug. Pro-pot people claim absolute proof that it is NOT a gateway drug.

Good luck coming to 100% consensus on this one!

If pot is a gateway drug then so is tabacco and alcohol.

That ain't gonna happen.
We could tax em' all! And regulate them to make them more safe for the user and those who happen to find themselves in proximity to a user.

We're back to square one: It ain't gonna work.

The criminals that are selling illegal drugs are NOT going to start paying taxes once they become legal.

Personally, I don't think there is ANY good solution to the whole drug thing. It cannot be successfully legislated, because where there is demand there will always be supply. Unfortunately, this truth applies to the sick bastards in the kiddie-porn industry as well.

Right. But isn't that because they wouldn't be selling drugs at all
