I like this quote from the comments.... It's not rocket science. If you encourage a people to believe that in all things the individual is king, they will act like selfish bastards.
Sounds like the U.S. | to quote your article: "The country's tax burden, at 47.1% of GDP, is the world's second largest, after Denmark."
I don't think the American people will go for gold on that one. In fact if the US wants to shoot for having those kinds of higher taxes the people will revolt. It's not going to happen.
But the one thing that will never happen here is the forcing all welfare recipients into "volunteer work". That kind of enslavement is probably the only reason they can economically stay afloat. I don't see all the cracked out American Welfare recipients in the US doing it. It would go over like a snowball in hell.
But forcing them to earn their welfare is a notable idea. |

It's a great idea because if you don't wan to do volunteer work, then you are almost forced to find a job. |
