I had noticed the correlation a few years ago but it is interesting to see it verified.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

What is really funny is that the Republican party started as the party that freed the slaves, they used to be very progressive, and forward thinking... Now they are just evil for the most part...

I wouldn't go so far as to say evil. That's a bit excessive. Misguided on some issues. But so are the Democrats. Don't be conned in to supporting one or the other fully. Take each issue, read both sides, and you may find yourself surprised about who you agree with on certain issues and why.

I happen to vote for Democratic candidates but they fall in the line of Bill Richardson. A western Democrat who is for 'conservative' issues like responsible government spending, lower taxes, supporting business, and protecting our fighting men and women. At the same time he supports civil unions and other socially 'liberal' issues I support.

So read up to be sure...

Oh don't get me wrong, I think Republicans and Democrats are both Evil... They are the same damn party... Tax and Spend is their policy, they don't do shit for the people, they both serve only their financial backers... The only difference is how you want your politics, with or without Jesus...

OH, yeah.. Go back and look alittle harder. The Democrats were the ones who pushed to limit the blacks in the south. The Dixicrats held a powerful sway in Congress for a long time. They did an about face, and now act like they got clean hands. They don't!

One little detail you missed in this post about the map. At the time of Slave states, the Republicans were found in the Northern States. The South was Democrats, Dixiecrats.
Now ain't that a change...

You do have your points, but I feel the Republican/Democrat party is not entirely...there are some smart, good politicians.

we need a new major political party - one that supports lower taxes and government interference in private lives and supporting the troops - but also supports liberal social issues.

a good new political party that intelligent and compassionate people can belong to
