You are right. He did not say that. He dodged the question. Typical mealy-mouthed politician bullshit.

But what do you think he meant when someone asked if he was not going to answer the question and Romney said, "I think I already have."?
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

I might be alittle off but i thought i heard that exchange in the clip that I heard on 96.9
What part of the video does he say yes?? (in seconds...)

I viewed it again and again and I can't seem to find a point where he says, Yes..? Only, "I don't support..."

I think there are arguments for and against animal research. However, the argument that it must be acceptable if it helps a patient live longer is a dangerous one. The Germans conducted sickening medical experiments on live humans during the war. Some of those contributed to our understanding of certain conditions - for example, the best way of treating hypothermia.

However, I doubt any sane person would say that performing the sorts of experiments on humans that we do on animals would be acceptable - even though inducing, say, leukaemia in children and then testing drugs on them to see which ones work would probably be medically more effective than doing the same on animals.

So where do we draw the line? We conduct distressing and agonising experiments on primates, and yet a chimpanzee has the faculties of a three year old child. Would we countenance carrying out painful vivisection on toddlers? I hope not - and I don't think you'd need to be a medical doctor to have an opinion on this.

The biggie with animal testing is the sheer volume of animals used. The worst aspect of animal experiments is the use of the "LD50" test, where any new drug has to be administered until 50% of the animals die of it - to find out what the fatal dose is. This gives very little useful information - I know that if I eat an entire packet of salt it would make me very ill. I don't need to find out how much salt I need to force-feed my cat until he dies to know this.

Fortunately, this unnecessarily cruel test is being gradually phased out.

I don't think anyone can forget those barbarians like Dr. Mengele.

And we have seen the animal activists vandalized the labs where the animals were kept. Yes, there is a fine line indeed when it comes to using animals for medical research.
