Just to hget this thread back on subject- C Everett Koop and the CDC knew back in 1986 HIV/AIDS was not transmitted through casual contact. Huckabee's opinion in 1992 to "isolate" people with HIV/AIDS was based on ignorance and his obvious intolerance or acceptance of LGBT people.

And Huckabee still says "based on the data in 1992..." refusing to justsay he was wrong. Apparently he lost some brain matter along with his weight....

Considering we didn't know "how" some people really caught AIDS, quarantine still makes sense. If they were drug addicts, it's not like they care about spreading the disease. And if they caught it through sexual contact, if they couldn't provide the partner who gave it to them, they are probably at risk to spread it as well. Even if casual contact won't stop the disease, it the type of contact that gave the person the disease in the first place was probable, quarantine sounds reasonable.

Chandon, even IF Huckabee was moving to demonstrate an intolerance to the GLBT community, to dispel that, it ought to be true that those who are in that community and any others who know that HIV/AIDS is not a gay disease ought not claim Huckabee's intolerance to gay people now as his reason for suggesting that AID's patients be quarantined. Take the merits or lack thereof strictly on the basis of his claim to suggest that for AID's patients, not gay people. Since he did not say to quarantine gay people.

You are, yourself lumping gay with AID's by your judgement against Huckabee. And though you may be right, that is another issue then to counter him about. But his proposal did not say to quarantine Gay people.

And I wonder if people who were AID's patients would be quarantined, if that would be a good way to prove that the majority are not gay? Though I am not in favor of the quarantine, I am just saying is all.

one MORE time for the slow people in the class:

HUCKABEE'S STATEMENTS WERE IN A DIRECT RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS ABOUT GAY RIGHTS

And Even S-l-o-w-e-r For The Sheer Fun Of It ...cos Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

It doesn't matter what his statements were precipitated by, what matters is that as an advocate for gay rights, YOU separate them out.

You have good ammo if you use it right, but instead you moan and bellyache about Huckabee's position on gay rights. I say, use his statements to dispel falsehoods about the gay/HIV connection, if indeed you can.

As I am sure you can, given your record.

Don't bother responding - I won't be reading it, as I've requested my membership be canceled - this place is no fun at all anymore.
I'll spend time more enjoyably - perhaps getting a root canal or acid bath.

Really? Where did you get that tidbit. That's not what this story from Time says...do you have a source?
Huckabee Wanted to Isolate AIDS Patients - TIME

Not that he said anything you would like about homosexuality....
"I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle, and we now know it can pose a dangerous public health risk."

In 2003, Huckabee said that the U.S. Supreme Court was probably right to strike down anti-sodomy laws, but that states still should be able to restrict things such as gay marriage or domestic partner benefits.

"What people do in the privacy of their own lives as adults is their business," Huckabee said. "If they bring it into the public square and ask me as a taxpayer to support it or to endorse it, then it becomes a matter of public discussion and discourse."

The man has my vote. LOL. It's like I was talking through him.

Even if your request is honored, your posts aren't gonna go away. So the best way to end your relationship is to just leave and forget it. If that's your intention. Which it doesn't look like is the case. Probably gonna be like your last 5 day hiatus where you spent the whole day still logged on just not posting. You are a sad sad man.
