You are trying to "prove" the wrong point.

My point is that he should have known. I don't care if he is patriotic or not. That's not really my call. But for him to not know to stand at attention and put his hand over his heart during the national anthem is BS. You can show all the pictures otherwise, that video is the one that rings most true.
The only thing those pictures prove is that somebody slapped him upside the head and asked him WTF are you doing? I'll take a "I was daydreaming" over any of the excuses I've heard so far. Because he DID look like he was thinking of that hooker he had the night before.
I don't mind when people bitch about the usual BS Washington politics. But when they turn around and spew the same bullshit out the other end of their mouth, it gets really tiring.

If anything these conspiracy theories and often times pseudo-racist perpetuated myths show is that the forces of politics as usual and status quo are trying their hardest to put down movements for change.

ROTFLMAOL!!! Back peddling now FX?

By the way...Found the article that talks about Obamas' supposedly lessons of hand over heart...

And it wasn't AP that did the story, but Bill Adair by the Times Washington Bureau Chief...I'll post the significant part, which seems that your claim is an exaggeration of what was really said? It's a long article, and I'm sure you won't invest any time into reading it's entirety...

Worldandnation: E-mail assailing Obama's patriotism misses mark

Quote:
Oddly, the accurate caption from Time is included in the chain e-mail. But someone has added that "the article said" Obama refused to say the pledge and would not put his hand on his heart.

There is no such article on the Time Web site and searches of the Web and newspaper-magazine databases could only find blog postings that repeat the claim from the e-mail. It's unclear where the allegation originated.
Voters have asked Obama about the e-mail at several campaign events this week. One woman said her son was very concerned about the charge.
Obama said the e-mail was false and that the picture was taken during the anthem.

"My grandfather taught me how to say the Pledge of Allegiance when I was 2," Obama said in Burlington, Iowa. "During the Pledge of Allegiance, you put your hand over your heart. During the national anthem, you sing."

He called the e-mail irritating and likened it to others that falsely accuse him of being a Muslim.

Where have I backpedalled? There's a VIDEO of him not raising his hand, I know nothing of an e-mail. I have never stated anything but it was rather sad for a man seeing public office not to know proper flag etiquette. Please clarify where you think I am backpedalling from something I have said. I'm an certain you are mistaken.

Your quote is the same one I posted in my earlier (The Obama Thread) link in post #59. I'm not backpedalling, you are reaching for posting fodder. Maybe you should just stop now.

AlicornsPrayer, might I recommend not even giving him the time of day? Truly these myths are just strawman tactics in an attempt at distracting people from the issues, and of course the potential of real change? The reason why they're creating distractions is because if they actually debate the issues then they lose. Bush right now is very unpopular, along with the war, and McCain (the Republican front runner) is the candidate that most emulates the policies of George Bush.

It's hard to think about the consequences of someone who thinks we could be in Iraq for 100 years when you're worried about expensive haircuts and black-power Muslims.

What is the myth? There's a video and his churches' web site. No "myth" needed. The facts are right there. And if you think they won't become more widely known if he gets the nomination, you are a crackhead. McCain is gonna need all the help he can get. I'm voting for neither.
Seriously Kat, you gotta be kidding me.

Oh yeah...The U.S. code is on the youtube video...

FindLaw for Legal Professionals - Case Law, Federal and State Resources, Forms, and Code
U.S. Code: Title 36 : Section 301
National anthem

(a) Designation. - The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b) Conduct During Playing. - During a rendition of the national anthem -
(1) when the flag is displayed - (A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;
(B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(C) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and

(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

Is he not a statesman? Lies an myths my posterior. Not even attention, he was bobbing and weaving like Tyson.

I'm not kidding you, but are you kidding us?

Surely you can get quotes from a website and get photos of anyone, and take them equally out of context to bend it to practically any conclusion you want. These attacks are some of the worst of mistruth politics that you see coming from any campaign that is afraid to death they're unpopular on the issues. It's bullshit propaganda to the fullest, and the fact that you throw your head into the trough and eat it all up so easily is very telling.

Oooooh, did I strike a nerve with you? You're quite welcome.

Anyway, Alicorn already posted a thorough rebuttal to the picture so I don't even need to tell that this is the only time this have ever been recorded, where Obama didn't put his hand over his heart during a rendition of the National Anthem. Your attacks are getting more and more desperate and trivial. You say you don't care who does what with your posts, but you also seem to be hellbent on demonizing Obama lol.

Glad to see you don't really care!

Obama is a Socialist, racist Muslim who will tax us to death and McCain is a senile warmonger who will start WW3- Failtards.

"Sooner or later, people are going to figure out if all you run is negative attack ads you don't have much of a vision for the future or you're not ready to articulate it."-Sen. John McCain, February 2000.

I miss the old McCain...

It's a full video...not a photo of the national anthem. What is wrong with you people?

What is the truth as YOU see it? Because it seems quite obvious to me. He admitted it happened and he said he didn't KNOW that you were supposed to put your hand over your heart during the National Anthem, even though every one else got the memo.

Where is the mistruth?

To me, it just looks like a bunch of excuses.
