This is probally going to shock some people here and earn me some disdain for not exercising my right to vote...But I didn't vote today. Even surprising to me, neither did my mother.

We both agreed that we're not happy/comfortable with any of the presidential nominees, for one reason or another. So we didn't feel that it would be appropriate to go and vote for one over the other, when we didn't feel any of them should be in the executive office in the first place.

And unless something happens between now and the next voting day, about the only people either of us will be voting into any future offices...Will be canidates for local and state positions. But not the Presidential vote.

Oh oh Ali...you'll be unhappy to know that we agree on this. I did the same thing. Or didn't do anything as the case may be.

ROTFLMAOL!!! Hey, didn't I just say a few days ago, that although on some issues we disagree, but we do on occassion agree on other issues?

This is just one of those other times...Kinda balances out things, don't you think?

I'll say this much...It wasn't easy. I take pride in the fact that I can vote...But at the same time, I take pride in not wasting that vote either. Voting for 'the better evil' or 'just cause I can', just doesn't sit well with me. I want my vote to matter, to the issues that matter most to me.

Mom says that my thinking is rubbing off on her too...Listening to my hubby and I, as well as listening to my responses about politics on-line...She's kinda gotten a whole new way of thinking about her own politics and motivation for those she votes on...She's feeling horrible right now for not voting, and I would have taken her if she'd asked...

But she said learning so much more about the canidates through the internet medium the weeks she's been living with us, has made her realize that voting just to vote isn't the step to fixing the problems of what needs fixing in our country.

About a hundred years ago somebody asked my great-grandfather if he was going to vote for the right man.

He answered, "I would if he was running."

Like my great-grandfather, I am a firm believer in voting for the lesser of two evils. It doesn't mean that I support evil, just that I believe in keeping it to a minimum.
