Either way, you need to stfu.
Why should I STFU? You know as well as I do that President "Huckabee" would make us more of a laughing stock around the world than we already are. "Obama" sounds too much like "Osama." I know this may appear unimportant and silly to you, but I really think there is a lot in a name - especially for the President of the United States.

Does this mean that you, or any elected representative of your state will suggest legislation that will limit the names of potential candidates to names like Smith and Jones? Although I won't use the words that Katz did, I think you are just being silly here. You must have a lot of time on your hands there if you think that everyone else should be so shallow as this. America has made many leaps towards getting over such primitive social thought in the last 40 to 50 years; don't you think you need to start to also?

The limited free time on my hands has few options whilst being in Iraq.

A silly name isn't really so important for a politician unless the position is the President of the United States. It's just an issue about global perception: "President Huckabee" would be a liability to our country because it is a stupid sounding name. "President Obama" simply sounds too much like "President Osama." Yes, for the President of the United States - names ARE important.

The world is packed full of shallow thinkers I'm afraid.

I've learned to think in three dimensions a long time ago. Unfortunately, 95% of the world's population lacks the intellectual capacity to do so. These "leaps" you refer to are superficial at best. We are still in a world of marching morons.

people are finally coming to their scenes about obama, its all over the news lately. Ya, he makes great speeches woo de do. everyone knows that he is not cut out for the job has no REAL experience and the only reason he is getting so much hype is because he is black. And i know no black person wants to admit that they like obama just because hes black. But hillary and obama have the same exact views and plans. Why cant all the black people go for hillary then since the policies are so great ...
and i bet if people knew what they were getting themselves into they would not vote for any of them. Its pitiful that hillary's daughter is campaigning for her! Does she know what her mom is for? I am still not over our country allowing abortion to continue.

Actually, yes. The only other thing to do here is watch DVDs and e-mail the wife now and then.

That being said, I really do think that there is a perception issue associated with someone's name when they're running for the President of the United States.

I actually thought about what you said about Obama's name and it almost made sense. I agree a little bit. If nothing else, people ought to do a running count how many times the newsreaders have crossed the two. I've personally seen it done a couple times.
