Ned Lamont Screws Up

US Senate candidate Ned Lamont of Connecticut, darling of the left-wing blogosphere, is now running as fast as he can from the nutball bloggers who have zealously promoted his campaign against Sen. Joe Lieberman from its inception. (Today's Vent gives the overview.) And he's lying through his teeth in his effort to rid himself of the stain.

Reeling from the idiotic blackface stunt pulled by his close blogger confidante, Jane Hamsher, yesterday, Lamont actually told News Channel 8's Jamie Muro this:

"I don't know anything about the blogs, I'm not responsible for those, I have no comment on 'em...Independent blogs, I can't say anything about it."

Lieberman rival owns stock in Wal-Mart
By Charles Hurt
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
August 4, 2006

Connecticut millionaire businessman Ned Lamont, who sharply criticized the employment practices of Wal-Mart this week in his campaign to unseat Sen. Joe Lieberman in the Democrat primary, owns stock in the company, Senate records reveal.
"This is about waking up Wal-Mart, and this is also about waking up corporate America," Mr. Lamont said Wednesday at a Bridgeport rally against the retail giant, hosted by many of the same liberal bloggers who have boosted the former cable executive far ahead of Mr. Lieberman in the polls.
But Mr. Lamont and his family are part owners of the company, according to financial disclosure records he filed earlier this year with the secretary of the Senate. Mr. Lamont, his wife and a dependent child own as much as $31,000 in Wal-Mart stock.
Mr. Lamont and his wife jointly own two accounts containing as much as $16,000 in Wal-Mart stock. Their Wal-Mart holdings spin off as much as $3,500 in annual dividends. In addition, a trust fund he set up for one of his children contains as much as $15,000 in Wal-Mart stock and spins off as much as $1,000 in dividends.........

I just saw a news-report that of the people who said they'd vote for Lamont, actually only 30% of them were voting for Lamont, while 65% of them were voting against Lieberman.

Looks like another Republican Senator this fall!

If Mr. Lamont owns the stock as part of a mutual fund, or doesn't watch his financial manager like a hawk, it's possible that he just didn't know about it.

Probably. But Mr. Lamont is claiming to be holier than thou, and there are mutual funds which invest in companies which are so called "socially responsible."

Green funds? Those don't tend to make a lot of money, and there are plenty of companies that are neither socially responsible nor entirely reprehensible available. I'm sure the man wants a return.

I'm sure does as well. It's his buisness where he invests, and the fact that he chooses to invest in one of the Left's arch enemies won't matter a hill of beans on Tuesday. Does Lieberman invest in WalMart?

Lieberman is practically a Republican. Who cares what he invests in?

Lieberman votes with the Dems about 90% of the time. His ADA ranking and ACU ranking places him in the company of Ted Kennedy.

Then he's probably been raped, and left for dead in a water-filled car.
