People can't flock anywhere they want because of laws. I'm not sure where I stand on the matter. On one hand it seems like the future holds an even more united world front. Maybe you will have an "earth passport" eventually and everyone can go everywhere... for now I think people should get in and out of a country the offical way. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| True..but America still provides them with a greater opportunity, since they don't penalize those who succeed with high taxes. That could also be another reason they come here... Even middle class workers in Sweden ($40,000) get taxed at 42% ... Thats a little high...even IF they are doing a good job spending it now..what happens if bad leadership takes over. I mean the nation would go down the tubes... It seems to me.. the more diversified and agoristic controls a nation has, be it economic, or political, the greater chance it has for safety, and liberty. \"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of speech. I disagree that America provides greater opportunity. You forget that someone in Sweden who is taxed 42% gets a lot back through social programs and free medical, dental, etc. They probably net more per year than someone making 40 grand here. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Yes, but it sounds like there is no motivation, or return to do any work what so ever there. If I moved to Sweden, I surely wouldn't try to move up in life. There is no reason too. But the thing is, when there is no desire to contribute anything so society, nothing will be contributed or benefit anyone as a whole. There will be no incentives for improving product quality, no incentives to improve or develop new products, no incentives to even do a good job. Therefore, no one will work, and everyone would become poor etc. The whole economy would cease. When you provide incentives not to work...nobody will. I think thats already obvious amongst the countries that have fallen for the same scheme in the past... I did some research on a *FEW* of the problems Sweden is having right now. (I'm sure there are many more..) I came across an article saying: Few would now consider the Swedish system worthy of emulation. Sweden is shaken by economic crisis. Since the late 1960s its industrial competitiveness has deteriorated sharply. For two decades Sweden has had one of the lowest economic growth rates of countries that are members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. In other words... Their industry is rapidly on the decline. Sweden's inflation rate (today around 10 percent) has for some time been twice as high as that of its main competitors. -Cato Institute Peter Stein http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=1020 Here is a quote I like: We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. --Winston Churchill It's same cycle over, and over, and over again. It has been true in the past, and it will be true forever..Governments with excessive power are dangerous. The biggest reason socialism fails is because it fails to use a profit and loss system of accounting... Businesses that perform their tasks as required, provide good service, and basically do what is required of them..are rewarded with a profit. Those that don't live up to the consumer standards go out of business... So by helping failing companies, dig themselves out, or having governmental control over such industries will eventually drive those countries economies' into the ground. Whether products are considered "good" or "acceptable" then would fall fully on the government. And would the government openly admit its doing a bad job?? Especailly a very statist socialist one?? No.. they wouldn't. Another thing I would like to point out: Most Expensive Countries to Live in #13 United States #14 Sweden Even with those extremely high taxes...the cost of living its just as high..and people are being shafted. And some more questions: Why are unemployment rates over 10% throughout Europe? And why do these socialist statist governments have the power to sell women into prostitution to keep their welfare benefits..?!?. Hmm...that sure sounds like they are providing a good oppertunity for them. http://www.infowars.com/articles/wor...ostitution.htm \"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of speech. All economies go through tough times. They still have it DAMN good over there. Sell women into prostitution? I think you need to get out and see the world buddy. I have lived under our government and a socialist government. I felt much more cared for over there. People don't have to struggle so much to survive and it leads to peace (low crime), unity and stability. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
