That's so true about the driving test - lots of pretty bad drivers out there! I remember so many kids failing the parallel parking part so my father made me practice it over and over and over - all while using his huge old station wagon with no power steering! It must have worked though because even today I can parallel park just about any car. Never did thank him properly for that

Well... your first post here was an "in your face" slap at, and insult to the President of the United States in which you, among other things, made it clear that you think he's stupid.

So... if YOU cannot show that you had higher SAT scores then GWBush, that means you're even more stupid than he is! Kind of like John Kerry - the supposed intellectual - in that manner. I'd like for you to prove you're smarter then Bush.

Your opinion about a President's intelligence is of absolutely no worth - any more than my opinion is.

You need to tell that to EVERY college and University in the United States, because they CLEARLY disagree with you.

I don't recall saying that Bush was stupid - you must have jumped to that conclusion. That being said, I don't think he's the most intelligent president we have ever had, not because of SAT scores or any other standardized test, but rather because I feel he does not learn from his mistakes. That, to me, is a sign of intelligence. No one is perfect but if we fail and continue to fail because we do not learn from our past failures, it's a pretty good sign that we have limited intelligence. Either that or too big of an ego - neither of which is good for the country. Another sign is not being open to differing opinions (something you seem to have a little problem with by the way you attacked me for no reason other than disagreeing with me). I truly hope you do not judge all people's intelligence by their SAT scores - you are missing out on meeting some very smart, interesting people that way.

Not quite true - many colleges use the ACT scores. So CLEARLY they disagree with YOU! Oh and by the way, I'd love to show you some letters I've received from high scoring college graduates - they look like something a 10 year would write. Scoring high on a test and having a college degree is NOT a guarantee of intelligence.

Jefferson, I am sorry. Let me qualify my statement. SAT scores have nothing to do with the true measure of a man's ability to debate and share how he will take up his civic responsibilities as a citizen of the United States.

SAT's are only a guage of one's knowledge, but there are other weights and measures just as useful or moreso in such a scale. Like how well read someone is, how much common sense do they use, how much do they do critical thinking...just cos someone did not take a test or even if they did and did not score so well, that does not take away a practical and much needed addition to the rest of this community or to this world as a whole.

For the record, I am sure I have bowled you over already with my vast knowledge, but truth be told, I aint taken the SAT's either.

On the other hand, I did take my driver's test ...

OD

Let me remind you of what you wrote in your first post:

Whew! I'm just glad he's not some radical born-again Christian! Really people, have we slid backwards so far under the current administration that we have no tolerance for anyone who is exactly like us (whatever "us" may be). Personally I don't care if the next president is Christian, Jewish, Buddist or Muslim as long as he isn't a raving nutcase like the one we have now. At least Mr. Obama appears to be intelligent - that alone would be a breath of fresh air.
If you did NOT mean to say that George W Bush is BOTH a "raving nutcase" and stupid, you need to do a better job of communicating what you think.

And for the record, I think Bush DID learn from the mistakes of the previous President. He did NOT sit idly by - getting blow-jobs - and winking at terrorist attacks. He KNEW that allowing them to happen, without retribution, would only lead to more.

Again, you've failed to prove - in any way - that Bush is stupid. I really think what you should do is just admit, up front, that you don't like him. Be honest about it. Don't say, "I don't like him because he's stupid." Say, "I think he's stupid because I don't like him.'

The SAT and ACT tests are kissing cousins. They use different numbers, but they measure and mean virtually the exact same things.

If a student takes both tests, you can look at the scores of one and tell what his/her scores in the other will be.

And for the record, I evaluated - for years - high school applicants requests for Dollars For Scholars grant money. While SAT & ACT scores don't say everything, they absolutely do say a LOT of things! Show me a kid who scores 10 on his ACT and I'll show you a life-long minimum wage earner.

This is true.

But it's also PRETTY STUPID for a new poster to just come in and label the President of the United States as STUPID.

I heard lots of people claiming that Bill Clinton was stupid, but that didn't mean he was or is.

It's more a commentary on the person who is saying, "He's STOOOOOPUD!"

I can't really say if I "like" the man or not - I don't know him personally. I DO think he's a raving nutcase - no doubt about that - and I don't like what he has done to the country. I don't know how anyone can watch what he has done over the last few years and not see that. I also don't think he's intelligent - not stupid - just not highly intelligent. Goes back to that "not learning from mistakes" thing. You mention that he learned from the previous president's mistakes but what you fail to see is that he hasn't learned from his OWN. It's much easier to see other's mistakes and not make the same ones, than to learn from your own. Of course, if you feel the situation in Iraq in going just swimmingly, then I can see why you disagree with me. Let's just say we agree to disagree.
