Anywhoooo... Do you think Obama would be a good candidate, and if so, why? I'm not joking or digging. Just curious how you see him as a candidate.
Honestly, I don't feel I know enough about him yet to say. I'm still doing the research but on first blush, I'm inclined to say no. I think he has potential and he seems to have the charisma that so many voters seem to think is necessary but I'm not sure I quite buy everything he's saying right now. He's still young though so who knows what the future holds for him. If I had to pick a Democrat right now, I'm not sure who I would say would be the best. Richardson holds some promise but I don't think he's got the backing. I don't think either Hillary or Edwards could win - both have too much baggage. Edwards may have stood a chance if he had not aligned himself with Kerry last go round. I still feel if McCain would get the GOP nomination, he would stand the best chance of defeating a Democrat. Personally, I'd like to see a stronger Libertarian candidate.

I'll take a Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo over the likes of a John McCain ANY day of the week.
I know McCain doesn't appeal to a lot of Republicans because he tends to be moderate on a lot of issues, but if we are still in Iraq come next election, I still think he stands the best chance of resolving it and if we are still there in 2008, that's going to be one of (if not THE) major issues. Unless something major happens, Hillary will be the Democratic choice and the GOP can run a dead guy and win so I guess it really won't matter. If someone stronger emerges on the Dem side, it may take a more moderate GOP candidate to pull it off. Just my opinion though

It will be Obama and Rudy. Obama will win. He's a rock star! Rudy backs the President on Iraqi policy, as do I, so that means he will lose.

Mehhhh... I don't think Obama will get past the primaries. Hillary & her minions will have him for lunch. Then all the Democrats will cry about how mean the Republicans are - when the Republicans will only be re-stating all the crap the Democrats dug up in the Primaries.

I think you're right about Hillary - she's ruthless and knows how to play the game - but who do you think will get the GOP nod? Rudy (as mentioned) is probably a front-runner but I don't think he'd be a shoe-in either. I wish I felt better about the possibilities on either side but right now no one is standing out to me. I gave up long ago expecting one candidate to agree with me on all issues, but I'd at least like to feel there is one that I can relate to on most of the major ones. I just don't see any shining stars out there.

You're right. I don't think there are any "shining stars" out there.

Here are my thoughts:

- First of all, the Democrats absolutely cut each other's throats in the Primaries. Then in the Generals, they're sitting ducks and already have too much damage. And they complain that the Republicans are their enemies?

- I just don't think Hillary is electable - and it's because WOMEN don't like her. Plus, she just plain carries too much baggage (and I'm not talking about her thighs). Personally, I think she could make a fine President, because she'd be hard as hell. I'd like to see Iran's President Asswipe face-off with THAT menopausal woman! Talk about a wooppin'! The idiot wouldn't know what hit him!

- I think the Republicans are going to sit and be quiet for awhile. Let the Democrats have their self-destructive circus for awhile. Let the DNC implode on itself.

- I have no idea who the GOP candidate will be. Rudy looks possible, but I think it'll be somebody else - and not Condi.

- I think two things will determine whether DNC or GOP wins the White House in 2008: Whether or not we've succeeded in Iraq, and the economy. If things are good in Iraq, and we're out - and if the economy is strong - the GOP will be in the White House.

*LOL* - I never thought about Hillary from that perspective but that would be fun to watch! I have a feeling she is NOT someone you want to tick off. You know, I never quite understood why she let Bill slide on the Monica thing until I realized that she was not the fool she seemed to be at the time. She is using him and his popularity for her own gain and I can guarantee as a woman (we love revenge!), she is making Bill pay big time.
I've always kidded with my boss that we need a woman president because women hold grudges much better than men. No way we let some other country use us, abuse us and turn against us - WE will remember! The DNC has been it's own worst enemy the last several years - you are right about that. They can't seem to get their act together and decide what they really want to be. I can't quite figure out why. They have some potentially good candidates but, for some reason, they can't seem to get behind them. I never understood the choice of Kerry. To me, he seemed the least likely to succeed.

Personally, I would LOVE to hang out with Hillary and see what makes her tick. On one level, I despise her. But on the other hand, holy cow - how does she do what she does?

And I would LOVE to see her take down some of these pin-heads like Kim Jong Il from North Korea and President Asswipe from Iran. She'd squash their nuts so fast it'd make their eyes pop out of their heads. Heck, it'd be MUCH better than Professional Wrestling!

I've thought - for the past 10+ years - that she and Bill have some weird kind of politically expedient marriage. She had nothing to gain by divorcing him, after yet another round of philandering (with Monica). And she's got nothing to lose by staying married to him. Though I cannot imagine the two of them having sex, or having any kind of "normal" marriage, I do believe it's an extremely smart business arrangement for BOTH of them.

Now... IF she's elected President, the key will be if she has a Republican Congress or not. If she DOES, I think they could get some fascinating things done! Hillary is VERY crafty, and she'd be cutting deals, like I cut farts, in order to get things done. It could be fascinating!

Yeah, I think it is more of a business relationship - kind of like a good legal practice. I really don't see her getting elected though. She is one of those people that inspires too much hatred and mudslinging and she's too big a target because of things in the past. Who knows though - she can certainly hold her own when it comes to dirty politics and she'll be a force to be reckoned with. Now, can you imagine if it came down to Condi and Hillary?
Neither one gives me the warm and fuzzies and I'll bet those two would go at it tooth and nail! Heck, at least it would be entertaining for a while!

If you threw Condi & Hillary into the BattleDome, I think Hillary would take her down and out - in no uncertain terms.

However, I think if the Presidential election came down to Condi or Hillary, I think Condi would win.

You're right. Hillary inspires too much hatred, and she certainly does have a lot of crap "in the closet". A lot of very, very questionable "dealings." On the other hand, you can't count out a southerner who can buy a house in New York, with donated money, and instantly become one of New York's senators. Go figure!
