I would say a strong YES! We do need more people smoking pot in our communities and less people drinking.

What negative side effects on the brain? Studies have not shown any loss of intellect from smoking pot and it has proven NOT to be a gateway drug.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

The reason it is a gateway drug is that the heros of the DARE program where telling our children that marijuana was just as bad as other drugs. Marijuana, like it or not, is a widely excepted social drug. The kids try it, realize it not really the evil drug that DARE told them it was, and think that the other drugs are OK too. Nice to know that our government has created alot of our junkies, huh? Marijuana should be legal and achohol should be outlawed. All those bullshit advertisements, about the high kids running over a child because they are high are just that, bulshit. How many news stories do you see where this has happened? None! They should all show the kids drinking. Much more true to life. This will never happen because alot of our leaders are achoholics, including Bush. Anything that alters the mind should be limited to home with no plans to go out. Yet we allow bars to serve achohol to people who still have to travel. Inteligent reasoning tells us most potheads are more responsible than most of the drunks!

Since there is no loss of intellect from long term use of marijuana I don't see your point. If marijuana was legal less people would drink and we would have less alcohol related tragedies.

In my exposure to pot smoking it goes hand in hand with drinking, so I do not see how making it legal will stop drinking.

It won't stop it. I do think it will reduce alcohol intake in general. I mean what alternative to alcohol exists currently?

I know many people that would quit drinking if pot were legal. All the people I know my age that use to smoke are now afraid too smoke because they own homes that the government can just take for just having pot at their house. So they drink. It really is a no brainer.
