But don't you see it is global warming that is causing all the cold weather. That is right, because the planet is too hot, it has to be so cold. Its just more proof of the logic.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

"Its just more proof of the logic."

Oh, you mean like the logic that a conclusion based on relatively few data points, such as air temperatures gathered from a few recent weeks within North America, is equivalent to a conclusion based on many, many data points, such as air temperatures gathered throughout the world over many decades of time?

And what has that "exhaustive" research proven?

NOT what the Cult of Global Warming would have us believe and worship!

"And what has that "exhaustive" research proven?"

-----------------------

Well, for one thing, Earth's atmosphere is warming...rather quickly.

And, through other "exhaustive research", greenhouse gases have NEVER been shown to NOT act as...ummmm...greenhouse gases.

And, through other "exhaustive research", humans have been shown to have substantially added greenhouse gases to Earth's atmosphere during the past few centuries.

So, unless you (or others) show objective evidence that demonstrates another relatively current forcing mechanism which would account for our planet's current warming trend, you (and others) are just burying your head in the sand, so to speak, and ignoring what has already been objectively demonstrated.

I suppose the next thing you'll be claiming is that the Atlantic Ocean used to freeze over - before Global Warming and all.

On Thursday, the bitterly cold winds will bring back lake-effect snow to the areas to the lee of the Great Lakes. Lake Erie is frozen, so Ohio and western New York will not receive as much snow as the regions to the lee of Lake Ontario that are still digging out from the recent lake-effect event.

Jeff, as you know I put you on my ignore list. We had gotten to the point where you and I were just resorting to name calling and I didn't feel that debating with you was productive. I would like to respond to your posts, and take you off my ignore list, if you think we can have intelligent debate without attempting to belittle each other.
Now in response, I worked as a commercial fisherman for years, here in New England. I worked with alot of guys that fished the Great Lakes, that only came here to work the boats of the Atlantic, in the winter when their home ports froze up. The east side of all the Great Lakes freeze most years.

-------------------------------
The Saint Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes Waterway opened the Great Lakes to ocean-going vessels. However the move to wider ocean-going container ships - which do not fit through the locks on these routes - has limited shipping on the lakes. Despite their vast size, large sections of the Great Lakes freeze over in winter, and most shipping stops during that season. There are some icebreakers that operate on the lakes.

The lakes have an effect on weather in the region, known as lake effect. In winter, the moisture picked up by the prevailing winds from the west can produce very heavy snowfall, especially along lakeshores to the east such as Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Ontario, and New York. It is not uncommon for heavy snow to occur during completely clear skies because of this phenomenon.

Did the ice storm slam any of you guys? We lucked out with the roads slick but no powerlines down.
I lived in Albany N.H. during the ice storm of 98' and it was harsh.
It was the most incredible, natual, audio experience of my life though. I lived right at the edge of the White Mountain National Forest and you could heard hundreds of different size branches breaking at once. It had a sound like glass and gunpowder, as if all sizes, of hundreds of guns, were being shot at once at bottles or windows. We could hear one tree fall up on the mountain, fall through the smaller branches, and hit the next and it would snap and hit the next. I went up there a week later and there were hundreds of trees downed. Branches were everywhere and the power was out for 2 weeks for us and up to 7 weeks for some. It was a mess.

Ty;

I'm fully aware of the fact that the Great Lakes normally freeze - at least part way over. VERY RARELY do they freeze completely.

Keep in mind that I lived near Lake Superior for over 17 years.

I'm also fully aware that this is "Lake Effect" snow being dumped on New York State.

But how do you spin this into being the "fault" of Global Warming?

The current Global Warming CRAZE is about 10% fact, 10% pure BS, and 80% hype.

So we're in a "global warming trend". Big deal. The same thing happened between AD 1000-1300 - except that it was even warmer then.
