We spend exactly $50 per month for Natural Gas, and $75 per month for electricity.

How do we get by so cheap?
1. Everything is super-insulated.
2. Extremely high-efficiency furnace.
3. Programmable thermostat.
4. Energy-mindedness.

I think one would have to compare his energy usage to others who have twenty room mansions in the area he lives. The idea of comparing the energy usage with 'normal' households is absurd. He doesn't HAVE a 'normal' household.
Just as his job takes him all over the country...and world. Of course he uses more fuel doing HIS job than some guy who has a twenty minute commute five days a week.
