Well they can't really over-ride it but they can fire him... Basically it comes down to the free market. The network will do what the community demands... I just hope the community is sensible.

Yes. That is what I was thinking.

There was a radio host here who did a promotional event and while at it, he got schnocked. And under the influence he said a few inappropriate things about some of the women in the community. And whereas he had freedom of speech, because he was actually working this event under the auspices of the radio, the station fired him, not having his sense of humor.

Yeah but that is a different case... That's libel...

Saying I am glad your mom is dead is not libelous... It's just potentially hurtful.
