It is note worthy that Boulder is where they recently had riots at the college with students throwing malatov cocktails, stoning the police and flipping cars and lighting them on fire. Maybe some good sex and a chill pill will help those oxygen deprived students!

My true opinion is that is not something to teach our young people.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour

And I also must say, though ya know I like ya...this you said seemed ironic:

Well making someone is not so good as giving them freedom. In fact, how do you even make someone free and yet seem to be projecting that you would not even give them that choice when they are younger. I know for me, I became god-conscious at a very early age. No parental restraint could have held me back from choosing to search for God early on or give me the freedom later. Some things really are autonomous pursuits.

What are you talking about? Your talking about semantics... I never said that I would restrict choices when younger... I said I would not expose them to religion... I think it's irresponsible.

Jesus... I think I need to take a break for a while... I've been getting really irritated lately...

Although this all serves as more reason why I have no intention of having kids... Not worth it... not to me...

The problem with education. If you can't teach them to read, write and do arithmetic, you might as well teach them something. What better from those of the 60's generation than sex, drugs and rock and roll, they know it so well.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

This event had occurred for 10 years with no complaints. In addition, there was only one parent who complained.

This smelled more like the radical religious right making a cause of nothing than anything offensive done in the program.

Excuse me? What part of advancing our society in human rights and economic conditions, as well as providing educational opportunities did you not get during the 60's? Too high, were you?

Now there is something wrong when adolescents are signing confidentiality agreements against their parents, who are supposed to be responsible for their children, and all of their behavior, until they reach the age of 18.

As for the other content in this article, maybe it is time that parents open thier eyes to the fact that their children are going to experiment with sexual behavior and prepare them before hand with some contraception choices, to not only prevent sexually transmitted diseases, but also teen pregnancy, preventing unnecessary abortions.

Of course, abstinence should be encouraged, and teens should be made aware that especially in younger teen girls, teen sex is often accompanied by depression, and younger teens are less likely to use protection.

As for the drugs, kids are taught about the effect of drugs and alcohol in school health classes, here anyway. They are taught which ones are physically addictive and what the side effects are. I'm not so sure they are taught about the dangers of overdosing, or even the possibility of allergic reactions, which should be talked about as well.
(I knew a man who tried pot for the first time in his 40's and had a major allergic reaction and had to be hospitalized.)
I would hope that additional information would help them make better choices about what substances they choose to put into their bodies.

In the end that is something parents must talk to their kids about as well. The time to ignore the issues facing our children is over. We have to be prepared for what they face each time they walk out the door.
Our Task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures, the whole of nature, and its beauty.
