| I am agnostic. And I don't believe such talk is healthy for children. So yes, I think non thiests would censor words on Network television. Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I just don't watch censored movies on television. It happens a lot less in Canada, I think. A Vancouver station, CityTV, never used to censor its movies. I can't really go back to bad dubbing. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| I think your television comes equipped with a channel button for a reason.... Hell, for that matter, so does your remote... We are a nation of choices... just look at your cereal aisle if you doubt me... Turn the channel, turn off the TV... but for fuck's sake, take some personal responsibility!! | Again, the issue is whether this particular movie should be on NETWORK television. If you're talking about HBO or similar networks, my response is the same as yours. Or, I would add to it, "don't let your kids watch HBO at 1 a.m." But, we're not talking about that. We're talking about what is appropriate for NETWORK television. This movie is simply not a good match for the networks for two reasons. 1: It simply has too fucking many "f-bombs" and other crude humor in it. 2: If you try to take that stuff out, you essentially ruin the movie, just as you would totally ruin the profound impact of "Saving Private Ryan" if you removed all the horribly graphic, extended sequences of war violence from that film. There is a time and a place for everything. Prime-time, network television is not the time or place for this particular film. If at first you don’t succeed – try, try again and then quit. | Well, obviously there would be stations that are meant for "adult" viewers. And adult only content would be moved to late evenings. I think censorship is unamerican however. And I think kids can handle language and nudity just fine under adult supervision (which they should be receiving anyway). --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- "There is no such thing as laziness. | That is true. But putting a movie such as "The Big Lebowski" on prime time commercial network television in all its uncensored glory would be like pouring sugar into diet soda, when the people making that choice clearly expected their soda to be sugar-free. | Typically they don't just slam the show in your face.... it comes with a language and/or content warning. I hate when they'd replace my favorite shows with Billy Graham crusades, but I didn't whine about it, I changed the channel. The content of his program was offensive to ME, but rather than launch a protest or scream at the television, I utilized the buttons that I paid for when I bought the damned thing....
