I was attempting to express something more general about American culture. The simple matter of fact is, is that despite the sentiment that supposedly we are a nation of choices, we are all bound to the same restrictions and within a set confine. Mostly being that, in our supposed 'liberal democracy' we only have two choices (Democrat or Republican) that surmount to a difference that is comparable to Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola. Likewise, one cannot essentially choose to stop participating in a game that is undoubtedly unevenly balanced; because to choose to stop playing in this game of continued self-alienation (and its subsequent consequences in the forms of exploitation and oppression) would mean your death. And likewise, the so-called "choice" between different sodas (in terms of this analogy) is itself set within a very limited confine (lets say I want water, milk, or nothing at all?); and you're forced into this "choice".

In the UK, we have a "watershed" hour at 21:00 on TV. Anything before this time doesn't have excessive bad language, but after 21:00 the gloves are off

I liked the South Park take in the "Bigger, Longer and Uncut" movie: "appalling violence and killings are fine, SO LONG AS THERE ARE NO NAUGHTY WORDS!".

I find that totally acceptable and logical!

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

Yeah, that does seem to make more sense.

Pick a reasonable time when most kiddies in the land have likely gone to bed.

Give ample warning.

Then, let the F-bombs fly!

Not to mention naked bodies... which God then made his followers try to cover up.

There's many people I'd rather not see naked.

Very interesting, Hevusa; considering your past views on morals and the lack of them here in America.

Television is not like a public place. In McDonald's you can't change the channel.... you're stuck if you wish to sit and eat... but at home, with a TV set, you have options that you can exercise or not, according to your personal standards. Swearing is a part of life. Sex is a part of life. Murder, rape... all parts of life.. you can only protect your children from the facts of life for so long... and I mean ALL facts of life... eventually, they're going to swim in the ocean, and unless you plan on being their eternal life preserver, you give them the tools to swim and hope for the best. If the worst thing they hear is Beau Bridges saying the word 'Fuck'.. my guess is they'll make it.
I also disagree with your idea that you are stuck at McDonald's. If swearing in a public place is a personal standard that you don't expect the rest of the world to adhere to, why wouldn't you leave if the swearing offended you so?
The television is the same principle. You can either change the channel to something you like, or turn it off altogether. In none of these two examples are you "stuck".
