No, of course not. But most of the time, I agree with them.. at least on basic principles.

I think that what Schlessinger stated WAS truly bigoted. PEOPLE WHO STAND IN THE WAY OF EQUAL RIGHTS FOR A MINORITY ARE BIGOTED. That is bigoted by very definition.

She wasn't talking about equal rights. As I recall, the thing that set everybody off was when she stated homosexaulity is a biological error. And everybody started sceaming, "she called people biological errors." That's NOT what she said.

I'm nearsighted. That's a biologial error. I did not just call myself a "biological error."

I happen to think homosexuality is a handicap. I've cleary stated as much on these boards before. But why in the dickens would I want to "stand in the way" of equal rights for handicapped people?

I think she was "standing in the way" of homosexuaility as a condition never, ever being questioned by anybody ever again. Which is what SOME of the gay rights movement wants, IMO. It goes past wanting to be treated fairly.. .it's about wanting to be above criticism, questioning and beyond reproach.

Schlessinger's consistent characterization of the sexual behavior of gays and lesbians as 'abnormal,' 'aberrant,' 'deviant,' 'disordered,' 'dysfunctional' and 'an error' is evidence of her bigotry - just as others using such words are.

Okay

I agree with that.

I see no reason that my BEING should be critiqued, questioned or considered reproachable.

A lot of people agree with her view. But I don't see how she was restricting anybody's rights?

The sexual behaivor of gays IS all those things... and self-evidenlty so.

So freakin' what?

It's abnormal and aberrant that I can't see more than four feet in front of my face without my glasses.

It's disorderd and dysfunctional that FX can't piss and has to rely on a machine because he doesn't have kidneys.

That doesn't mean it's right or good to deny a gay person something like, oh, being able to inherit the estate of a partner they were with for 50-plus years.

It just means not everybody buys the line that it's "perfectly normal" for two guys to reject sex with women in favor of sucking eachother off.

a lot of people agree with the KKK - and agree with keeping immigrants out of america - so?

don't be stupid - I didn't say she restricted anything - she doens't have that power. She had a very visibile public venue to espouse and endorse the restriction of those rights to the same grimy people who "agree with her view."

The majority of your fellow countryman are "grimy" by your reckoning!

But if someone described homosexuals as "grimy" then presumably you would consider that hate speech?

What rights did she espouse restricting?
