Exactly. Let the Iranian public welcome the strangers before the govt. officials do.

The average Iranian probably realises how fucked-up their country is.

Oh, it was Harry Truman who first said that Iran is the most backwards country in the world.

I think they hate their government today at least as much as they hated the Shah's regime back in the late 1970's.

And it could be said that their "revolution" isn't exactly over yet.

It's just a shame that their voices are effectively silenced by a minority...at least inside Iran.

I travelled all over Iran in the 70's during the time of the Shah.

It was a very advanced westernised country and the people were very friendly and civilised. At that time Iran was investing billions of oil revenues in their infrastructure.

Of course they were careful not to run foul of the SAVAK, the Iranian version of the FBI.

Even by today's Western standards, the general Iranian public is a highly educated and modern people.

Perhaps, one day when the Mullahs are out of power, hopefully if that happens, Iran will be a tourist attaction for the West, including for Americans.

A lot had to change since Truman was president in the 1940's, to the 1970's. You probably saw cranes atop tall buildings under construction, which were stopped when Khomeini took over.

I can see that being true in areas of the larger cities of Korea. I also know that there is strong animosity towards Americans by some Koreans. It may show itself overtly, but it is there.
