Nutty Joe you are nutty. Ahmadinejad is on a watch list. He's on the "Do Not Take Lightly For He Wants to Destroy the West and Israel" watch list. Hes a stooge for the Ahatollah yes, but at the same time why would a university allow a man who's government allows the stoning of women come speak at their college when he's only going to criticize and talk down to them about how we are all stupid americans that have our heads up our asses. Iran provides insurgent groups in Iraq with weapons that they in turn use to kill and injure American troops. Iran is a country that had American hostages back in 1980. Now I'm all for diplomacy and talking it out. But you can't really say much to a nation and a leader that wants you wiped off the face of existance. Talking to a brickwall with that one. He's a sneaky little bastard. He got exactly what he wanted. The american people to be up in arms over the fact that he was allowed to speak at a prominent american university. He went into this thing with the intentions of looking like he had clout. Like he scored a win over the "big bully USA". He knew what he was doing and what was going to be the response to him coming here. We played his game and lost

I am unaware of the list you speak of. However, again; the body that wishes to engage such people for speaking engagements are not breaking any law in doing so, and for the program (something along the political science line, I'm sure) will always be guaranteed a high turnout for the speech. Before he was assasinated; even though he was on every form of watch list imaginable for his racial statements and those of the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X was one of the most sought after guest speakers for American colleges and universities. Why is that, sir?
If you are inferring that Ahmadinejad ought to be be barred simply for his political views and those of his country; that just isn't possible. It's just a matter of choice: if you don't like what he's saying; like a telivision or radio, change the channel. We cannot forbid the school from engaging this man, nor any other.
I'm not going to defend anything Ahmadinejad says or anything Iran does. I've stated in other threads that I believe Iran to be the real danger in the Middle East. I was just responding to the view that the college or university has the right to engage any speaker they wish to- legally. I'm sure that during the Cuban Missile Crisis days, both Fidel Castro and Nikita Kruschev could have could have earned millions in fees from speaking engagements here in the United States. And the schools would have been more than willing to pay those fees.
