Yeah. Let's pay attention to the angry MINORITY section instead of the majority...

By now we know you are disingenuous enough to avoid the fact that 170,000 was the number of signatures required to make the Legislature debate the topic

< yawn >
You have no clue how many battles the anti-gay crowd has already lost.
They keep trying to win additional "adoption" battles, and FAIL. Even in locations like Oklahoma, which REALLY surprised me.

Gay marriage is the ONLY issue the anti-gay bigots have remaining, and it's going down the tubes.

It always starts with one state, just like interracial marriage did.
One state you have decisively lost, and then another. And another. And another.
Are you aware that the majority of younger voters have a MAJORITY APPROVAL FOR gay marriage?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

In the 1960's the majority of younger voters were all for sex and drugs.

Then they grew up.

Today's younger generation will do likewise

It's only a matter of time...
If you are so confident then why are you and your homosexual comrades in Mass. so terrified of putting this issue on a ballot???!!

Enjoy your pyrrhic victory while you can.

How can I "avoid" something that you didn't explicitly bring up?
Are you honest enough to address the fact that there are OTHER petitioning methods available to the Massachusetts citizens for enacting constitutional changes, but that THESE petitioning methods could not be used for the bigots in Massachusetts because they couldn't gather enough signatures?

"sex" was never illegal, so that comparison is just plain dumb. Ask the people involved if they regret their actions, and I think you'll see a resounding "No".
"drugs" is a separate subject, and there a variety of polls that DO SHOW a majority support for allowing states to legalize drugs like marijuana.
Feature: Zogby Poll Says Both Coasts Favor Letting States Legalize Marijuana -- What Is It Going To Take?

Your example proves my point, in addition to showing how truly clueless you are regarding people's opinions.

Asked and answered repeatedly.
Do you think blacks would be comfortable with a revote on slavery? Or equal rights?

Voting on equal rights is unAmerican.

You often say stupid crap that has no real basis in reality.
How is this victory "pyrrhic"?
We've won, and there is no down-side.
Unless you're going to try with that stupid "harm to marriage" rant, and you should know by now that just ends up with us asking you to prove your dumb-ass claim, and you looking like an idiot because all you can claim is that it's "change"...

The point is that the hippies of the 1960s are the PTA mums and accountants and Republican voters of today. People's views change as they grow up.

Except in your case

Homosexuals already have equal rights to marry and are subject to the same rules. You have been told that thousands of times.

Why on earth do you keep bothering to try this ludicrous comparison with the civil rights movement? Even most black leaders oppose homosexual marriage.

And the ban on inter-racial marriage did nothing to alter the fact that marriage is for one man and one woman

did garysher really imply that when people grow up they are no longer interested in sex?
LOL
maybe that's why he has nothing else to do in his life except rant and rave and whine and moan about gay people on the internet!!!

They signed a petition which would BRING IT UP IN MASSACHUSETTS CONGRESS.
You should really learn what the law says there before you lie and pretend it says something else.

Mind-numbingly stupid question.
You don't sign petitions to keep existing law.

I would love to see substantiation of that claim.
We both know you have none.

Specifically, HOW MANY of the Republicans of today were "hippies" in the 1960's?
How many of the "hippies" of the 1960's are Republicans today?

All you do, day in and day out, is make up crap.
SOME opinions change.

Have you ever stopped to figure out WHY the children of 1960 wouldn't think about allowing gay marriage, but the young voters of 2007 ARE thinking about it?

Yes. I have read that lie a thousand times.
Just as you have read the response each time.

Claiming that gays have an "equal right" to marry HETEROSEXUALLY is like outlawing Judaism and saying that Jews have an equal right to worship Christ as Christians do.

In other words you have no idea how many people in MA oppose this attack on traditional marriage

Specifically, HOW MANY of the Republicans of today were "hippies" in the 1960's?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I use the same generalisations that you do when you tried to peddle the idea that today's younger generation are more in favour of homosexual marriage and you think they will remain so

This is not true of the 60's generation and their immature social mores

Yet again we have to spoon feed you

Have you ever stopped to figure out WHY the children of 1960 wouldn't think about allowing gay marriage, but the young voters of 2007 ARE thinking about it?

>>>>>>>>>>>>

Is this an excuse for more of your unfounded pontification?

Claiming that gays have an "equal right" to marry HETEROSEXUALLY is like outlawing Judaism and saying that Jews have an equal right to worship Christ as Christians do.

Nope. It is nothing at all like that and you know it.

Marriage is a heterosexual institution!

It is more like saying that Chinese citizens have an equal right to enjoy US citizenship!!

How do you keep a straight face when you make these ludicrous comparisons!!

Looks like bribery and corruption may have figured in the sudden change of minds in the MA legislature.........

Boston - VoteOnMarriage.org - the campaign to allow the voters to decide on the definition of marriage in Massachusetts - expressed outrage over today's Constitutional Convention vote on the Marriage Amendment citing the unrelenting pressure by Governor Patrick, House Speaker DiMasi and Senate President Therese Murray forcing some lawmakers to switch their positions on the issue during the 11th hour.

"The Marriage Amendment won its first legislative vote and was on track to win its second with a healthy margin.

The unprecedented pressure by leaders on Beacon Hill - the rumors of patronage jobs by Governor Patrick and arm-twisting by House Speaker DiMasi - derailed the largest initiative petition drive by citizens in the Commonwealth's history and this is a brutal loss for citizen-centered democracy," said Kris Mineau, president, Massachusetts Family Institute and spokesman, VoteOnMarriage.org.

All three Beacon Hill leaders opposed the people's right to vote on marriage. Allegations of bribery by the Governor and arm twisting by the House Speaker as a means of pressuring legislators to switch their vote have been reported widely in the press in recent weeks.

"The Governor and House Speaker have been unrelenting in fighting the natural course of advancement on the marriage amendment and the people's right to vote," said Mineau. "We will look very closely at the circumstances by which legislators switched their vote for ethics violations or improprieties."

Citizens in 45 states have weighed in on the definition of marriage either through the legislative process or by constitutional amendments.

VoteOnMarriage.org vows to continue the fight for the people of Massachusetts to be heard on this issue.
