Exclamation Marriage Equality Safe in MA!!!
... just received from GLAD ...

Dear Tristan,
We won! Today, Massachusetts stood decisively for fairness! Three-quarters of legislators resoundingly rejected the anti-gay, anti-marriage equality ballot question with a vote of 151-45.

The precious right to marry - which GLAD won in 2003 with the successful Goodridge lawsuit - is now safe in Massachusetts.
We're proud of our state today, and we applaud the legislature. Equality for gay and lesbian citizens has enriched our state, made our communities stronger, and our families happier. The vote today was the triumph of time, experience, and understanding over fear, lies, and prejudice.

We are deeply grateful to the legislators who have been with us every step of the way, as well as to those who found their way to fairness. We thank Governor Deval Patrick, Senate President Therese Murray, and House Speaker Sal DiMasi for their courageous leadership. We salute every citizen, gay and straight, who fought for this victory, led by our talented, hard-working friends at MassEquality.

And we thank you for all you have done to make this victory a reality. With Massachusetts now secure, the focus moves to Connecticut, Rhode Island and the rest of New England. Please give generously today to help GLAD secure equal justice under law.

Sincerely,

Lee Swislow
Executive Director

Actually, not MY state - I live in CT. We only have civil unions. I believe the "we" in the letter referred to gay people everywhere.

My bad...ROTFLMAOL!!! Don't know why I thought you lived in MA.

Still, with them opening the door, it's only a matter of time for the rest of the New England states to follow. So it's still CONGRATS!!!

The homosexual activists have bought some time but it's only a matter of time before the MA legislature starts to pay attention to the 170,000 voters who want to get this issue on a ballot.

The decision to scrap homosexual marriage in MA may be delayed but, as Churchill said "we will never, never, never, never give up"

Meanwhile these sham marriages are still not recognised by the Federal government and 49 states have the DOMA or similar legislation to protect marriage

170,000 voters, as compared to the population of Massachusetts which is 6.4 MILLION.
Yeah. Let's pay attention to the angry MINORITY section instead of the majority...

You have no clue how many battles the anti-gay crowd has already lost.
They keep trying to win additional "adoption" battles, and FAIL. Even in locations like Oklahoma, which REALLY surprised me.

Gay marriage is the ONLY issue the anti-gay bigots have remaining, and it's going down the tubes.

It always starts with one state, just like interracial marriage did.
One state you have decisively lost, and then another. And another. And another.
Are you aware that the majority of younger voters have a MAJORITY APPROVAL FOR gay marriage?

It's only a matter of time...

It still confuses me how the chain of "command" in an adoptition is.....
Nomal-Mother Father
Single Parent
THEN
Homosexual couple

How is it better for a child to have one parent rather then two????
