Health insurances is (bleeeeeep) ed up to begin with. We need public medicine.. but.. that's a whole other forum.

The reason I can't get health insurance is because I got divorced in a state that has an utterly retarded rule saying the non-custodial parent MUST carry the minor children on his/her insurance. Given my modest pay -- and the deductions I already get from my paycheck for child support (which I gladly and proudly pay) I simply cannot afford the additional deductions from my pay that having health insurance for both me and my son (who is already covered, by the way) the the state would demand. So, the only solution for me is to simply refuse to enroll in any health insurance plan whatsoever. The last time I calculated it, the child support/automatic health insurance deductions would add up to well over half my net pay. Which is utterly stupid.. but I digress... LOL.. don't get me started on how the state of Idaho treats non-custodial parents... LMAO..

Okay.. deep breath.... anyway, Jax, yes it is true that I COULD have health insurance...and someday, probably will again. Whereas, it's not even an option for many gays and their dependants.

Are you only after an explanation of why homosexuals wish to engage in relationships with people of the same sex? I suspect it is not very different from the reasons you might wish to start a relationship with someone of the opposite sex.

Hopefully no one has called you stupid, but I think many gay people expect that people who quesiton homosexuality are voting against same-sex marriage, which has a negative effect on their lives, and they are bound to be overly defensive for it.

Interesting stand.
Tristan...I never questioned your existence. Of course you exist, I just think that homosexuality doesn't make sense. I really apologise if you don't like the way I feel, but you get sooo friggiin hostile about it.

As I put in my post in the forum I started, I have no ill will toward homosexual people or wish them any harm, but the feeling to be attracted to the same sex makes as much sense as people who are born in a woman's body but think they are a man and vice versa. To me, gender and orientation are absolutes and any diversion from that is just...wierd for the lack of a better word.

And I'm not trying to disrespect anyone, I'm just stating the way I feel.

And see I don't even want to talk about same-sex marriage. I think before we get that far, we need to find out the whys and hows. Until then, I don't think that that should happen. But bringing that into any discussion just takes it in a wicked direction. Why can't we just discuss homosexuality in general first without going there?
It's just a diversion.

I've never heard anybody rant and rave they were going to kill somebody gay. And I've lived most of my life in ultra-conservative "cowboyland" -- Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming.

Lucky you. I wish I hadn't.

I also had a friend who was raped because she was gay. The guy was a serial rapist who picked out lesbians to "teach them a lesson."

On the other hand, three of the most horrific murders I'm familiar with (covered both cases as a newspaper reporter) happened because the victim's were straight, and involved with people who had jealous/psycotic ex-spouses. (And ex-husband in one case, ex-wives in the other two.)
Come on, that was not because they were straight. It was because of a relationship that they were in. Such things happen in gay relationships too.

But the last such rant that I heard was because some guy's (male) neighbor was wearing a woman's dressing gown & slippers & makeup while putting out garbage at 2 AM. This guy came in my place of business raving that he was "gonna kill that fuckin' faggot 'cause he needs to be taught a lesson." Seriously, who cares that much what someone wears in the middle of the night to put out the garbage?

So far as I know, he never did carry through on the threat, but what was that about anyway?
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

Using your same logic, might I draw the conclusion that heterosexual sex with a minor is okay? After all, there is a good reason why people would want to be heterosexual to begin with. It serves an obvious purpose.

But no, I can't say that, can I? There is some significant difference between heterosexual sex between adults and heterosexual sex between minors. Sex with minors is harmful.

This harm makes sex with a minor wrong. It doesn't matter whether you're comparing sex with a minor to straight sex, gay sex, or a pile of rocks: sex with a minor is harmful for the same reason every time.

So no, I am not hinging on some assumption about the nature of heterosexual sex. I am hinging on the fact that the harm of having sex with a minor is totally unrelated to sex between two homosexual adults.

BTW, Jax, I'm all for same-sex marriages/unions and gays being able to serve in the military.
Well, I am glad to hear that. Take out the word "unions", and we'll be in agreement.

And you may legitimately call yourself a victim of our health insurance laws. And we should fix those laws, just like we should fix any laws which treat people unfairly.
