In the bible, it isn't always other tribes attacking the Israelites. Sometimes it's the Israelites attacking tribes that are already in place, such as the Canaanites.

So by this logic, black slavery is OK according to the bible, since a stronger military power effectively invaded African countries and stole their people.

And yet, although it's OK according to the bible, most Christians DO NOT think slavery is OK. Sounds like they're picking and choosing.

The myth here is that one cannot be a Christian if one does not follow every last thing in the Bible.

ALL Christians pick and choose.
None follow every last thing in the Bible.

All that is required to be a Christian is to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and your savior.

Everything else is (quite obviously) open to interpretation and debate.

I still disagree. Slavery is not MANDATED. If the bible said you MUST take slaves, I might be inclined to agree with you. But unless you find a passage that says that slaves MUST be taken, then you can't say that anyone is picking and choosing.

Homosexuality is condemned by the bible, it serves no natural purpose, and our bodies have no natural system/organs/excretions to support the actions involved in most homosexual sexual interaction. Especially compared to heterosexuality. Just as when looked with a world view. Homosexualithy makes no sense. It is a naturally occurring error.

I don't base my belief that homosexuality is wrong by biblical teaching as I am pretty much agnostic. But I do try to live by the ten commandments, and I find many core biblical sins quite common sense. Adultry, sin, murder, fornication, sodomy, theft etc all make sense to me.

Adultry, murder, fornication, sodomy, theft are all "open to interpretation and debate"?

Really??

That makes a lot more sense. Biblical literalism begs too many questions - like which version of "the bible", itself a collection of works written over millennia, one should follow, and which bits are intended to be taken literally (clearly, some aren't).

Exactly.

Not even the Christians who insist that they take the Bible literally, truly live by that.

They just use this as a way of separating "good" Christians from "bad" Christians... or in justifying this or that action.

Of course, these acts, ironicly, puts them on the "bad" list, by their own standards.

Prove it.

If you're right then the discrimination against Christians is even worse then I thought.

Go ahead win

We are all sinners and have fallen short of the Glory of God.

The question is whether we want to repent for our sins or wear them as a badge of honour.

That's why I follow no "religion". They all are so different.
