Leave it to gary and fiction errr I mean fxashun to make a big deal out of someone being called out for speaking in a derogatory manner. He made some stupid remarks, he apologized, shows over. Move on children.

Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

This is a non-issue.
Yup, and they accepted the apology on the same day he issued it.

New York, September 4, 2007 -- Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) President Neil G. Giuliano today accepted Jerry Lewis’ apology for his on-air use of an anti-gay slur during the telecast of The Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) 42nd Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.

“GLAAD thanks Jerry Lewis for his swift and direct apology for this incident,” stated Giuliano. “We join millions of Americans in applauding the important work of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and wish MDA and Mr. Lewis much continued success in their efforts.”

GLAAD: GLAAD ACCEPTS JERRY LEWIS’ APOLOGY FOR ON-AIR USE OF ANTI-GAY SLUR
Everyone makes mistakes, that's why we have erasers on pencils.

I think GLAAD declaring that Lewis's slip-of-the-tongue, "feeds a climate of hatred and intolerance that contributes to putting our community in harm's way", was a tad extreme; likewise, calling this remark an "attack" on a charity fund-raiser is also a bit ridiculous.

I'm only glad that this didn't become another Imus situation.

You're right, it's a non-issue and it's already been settled.

I have to admit, it's a bit over-the-top to get so worked up about a joke that he himself caught in time, before it got out of hand.

I think EVERYBODY needs to take a chill pill. Personally i've been called everything from sand-nigger to white boy, from terrorist to western spy, from muslim to heretic etc etc etc.. i don't give a flyin hoot.

Words are just words and can be said in many different ways.. the way Bill O'Reilly says "homosexual" always sounds to me to be WAAAAAAY more offensive and discriminatory than ,let's say, Lewis' use of the word Fag.

Who feeds hatred and discrimination more?? Oreilly or Lewis?

It becomes a problem when stress is laid on the WORDS rather than their context and/or meaning.. Fact is that people are always going to call other people names and they are always going to BE called names.. get over it.

Where did I make a big deal about it? Just curious. I specifically said I wanted to see it before I passed judgment. If you see different please show me.

Liar.

Or maybe he was depressed before he went in that restroom. Depression may have contributed to such a lapse in judgment.

Perhaps that's true.

I can imagine that leading a repessed life in which he had to hide who he was to every family member and friend; to realize that he was leading a hypocritical life by harming gay people while being gay himself; to lead an unfulfilled, unrewarding and incomplete life; to know that all the people who held his professional life in their hands would crush him if they knew who he really was, all could, indeed, lead to depression.

Maybe he just wanted free sex instead of a $1000???/hr hooker. I know it's very rare to get free impromptu heterosexual sex like that. Even for a senator. Or maybe he has a sexual compulsion, or blah blah blah. Who knows?
