So, do Californians need legislation to tell them how to wipe as well -- and a goverment agency to make sure it's done properly?

Whatever happend to teachers and administrators simply enforcing rules of basic common courtesy? If one student is screaming insults at another -- especially if the one screaming the insults is signifigantly larger than the one being insulted -- you shouldn't need a piece of legislation to tell you that's wrong, and a teacher should probably step in. I don't care if the insult being slung is "faggot," "nigger," "whitey," or any of the other numerous ugly terms people have come up with for one another -- or if it's just garden variety insults like " you ugly, shit-headed moron." It's the job of teachers and administrators to keep such things under control and keep disagreements between students from disrupting the flow to the school day.

Otherwise, it's probably best to let kids work things out for themselves. The fact is, with all the raging hormones and developing egos in junior high and high school, it's gonna get ugly from time to time.

Some schools not all that long ago even used to invite students who were having a particluarly bad time with one another to step into a boxing ring (with all the proper saftey equipment, of course) and work out their differences in that manner... with the stipulation that they respect one another afterward.

Frankly, that sounds like a good idea. Kids are gonna fight.. why not let them do it in a controled manner -- rather than just beathing the crap out of eachother in the parking lot. We're really turning into a nation of pussies, IMO.

As a person of small stature and eccentric nature, I got picked on, a LOT, all through school. Until one day in high school (can't recall if it was my junior or senior year) I finally decided I'd had enough and got back up in the face of one of the bullies that had been picking on me.

And gee, guess what.. he never bothered me again.. and my problems seemed to get a lot better from there on out.

Don't let these perverted minority groups corrupt the minds of our youth any further.

Gary, you have to give our youth at least some credit for having their own minds. And while it's fine for them to think there IS something wrong with GLBT, I don't think it's fine for them to be hateful bigots about it.

But, like I said, any teacher worth his or her pay should be able to judge when a particular student is being harrassed or belittled past the point of being able to handle it on his or her own.. and it's time for a teacher to step in and defuse the situation.

Why Californians need the goverment to tell them things that should just be common sense to a teacher with more than five minutes experience in the trenches is beyond me. Maybe all the teachers in California are just really slow on the uptake, and they need the government to hold their hand.

I agree homosexuals and "transgendered" shouldn't be subject to bullying any more than fat kids, kids with glasses, etc etc

But I don't agree that the schools should be teaching children that it's ok to be gay, or transgendered, and that everyone should pretend it makes no difference.

Or that children who are taught by their parents that homosexuality is a sin, should be subjected to contrary opinions from their teachers.

Right that does it - you're on ignore!

(But I may have to take you off ignore to see what you're saying about me behind my back!)

I didn't see that because you're on ignore.

I think it would be best if everyone ignores everyone else and only reads their own posts.

This will avoid any further disagreements.

Thanks
