I belong to a mainstream Christian church...which supports, sanctions and perform same sex marriages. There are many other churches which sanction, support and perform same sex marriages. In America, Reform Jews (the largest sect of Jews in USA) and the Conservative Jews all support sanction and perform same sex marriages (the Orthodox Jews, the smallest sect of Jews in USA are the only Jews who don't recognize same sex marriages).

Why should the government recognized SOME of the marriages performed by churches and synagogues - but not others? It's the same religious denomination - the same clergy - the same address. Why are some worthy of government recognition but not others?

I don't find anything particularly "religious" about that.

And, by your statement, are you suggesting that atheists not be allowed to marry?

My marriage is not based on any religion and its still a marriage. Marriage can be a religious ceremony or not. As you claim to be not religious I assume your marriage is purely secular like mine or maybe you just pretend not to be religious.

How do you know how someone else you've never met feels about another person?? You seem to have an inflated sense of your own importance...or is this again your obsession with gays manifesting itself..you really should get help its really odd

..there is no justification for excluding gays from the legal definition of marriage that doesn't revolve around religion no matter how many times someone says well its always been because what has always been was based at least in our society in religion...but marriage isn't always a relgious ceremony it can be and is for many people a purely secular lets go to town hall event...

Exactly what I said earlier based on your first paragraph, Gadgetory. I guess the JOP's, if they perform such marriages, don't really care about if the marriages be religious or not. They would do their job, and be done with it. I saw the same JOP do it three times for my uncle's family.
