Sure the bible was written a certain way and yes I am a baptist but at the same time I have a problem with believing all the bible says. I don't even know if Jesus or god had a hand in making it. My english teacher even told me some of it was provided by William Shakespeare. But at the same time even if it does it also says God loves all his children so how can god send them to hell because of them being gay or lesbian or bi? Even though some people are closeminded and believe that you chose to be these things you don't. Being gay is not some disease you catch or something you decide o I think I'll be gay its something your born with but realize in your own time. Some people keep inside so long that they've already been married had kids and are around 40 before they realize that they aren't happy with being with the opposite sex. First off if you don't like it you don't have to but your going to have to accept it. A lot of people are gay or lesbian or bi so you might as well get used to it. If your going to prejudice against people that are gay then I feel really sorry for you because some of the sweetest people are gay. But like I said I believe god put us on this earth to make it a better place and live our life to the fullest and also be happy in it. As long as we follow the ten commandants and try to live our life without compromising ourself everyday.

Well, I don't know any English teacher that would say that Shakespeare wrote any part of the Bible...he was around a good hundred years after the Bible was first printed.

If you follow the 10 commandments, you still can't come to the conclusion it was intended for a gay union.
Between Honor thy father and mother, and don't commit adultery, combined biblical rules against fornication and scripture against homosexual acts. Gay people are just "ass out" biblically. I still can't fathom how a practicing homosexual can consider themselves a "Christian".

Unfortunate use of anal imagery

I still can't fathom how a practicing homosexual can consider themselves a "Christian".

According to Christian doctrine we are all sinners, and all sins are of the same magnitude in the eyes of God.

But we are all called to repent our sins and ask forgiveness. Not to redefine matrimony to accommodate those sins.

Yes, God loves everybody.

That does not mean:

A: God approves of everything people are or people do.
B: You should hate people you disagree with.

Here's a question to ponder:

Do you think Jesus HATED the money-changers He threw out of the temple?
If at first you don’t succeed – try, try again and then quit. There’s no sense in making a damned fool of yourself. – W.C. Fields

Jesus defined marriage very clearly as the union of a man and a woman:

Matt 19:1-6

When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went down to the region of Judea east of the Jordan River. 2 Large crowds followed him there, and he healed their sick.

3 Some Pharisees came and tried to trap him with this question: "Should a man be allowed to divorce his wife for just any reason?"

4 "Haven't you read the Scriptures?" Jesus replied. "They record that from the beginning 'God made them male and female.' 5 And he said, 'This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' 6 Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together."

It's incredible that anyone would try to invert truth to explain this away.

Who cares what the scriptures say?

Do you, as a rational thinking thing, see homosexuality as wrong or acceptable? Actually, that doesn't matter anyway; ask yourself whether you think it is acceptable for you to force your view of morality on to others.

But at some point you have to determine as a society what is morally acceptable and what isn't.

Prostitution, gambling, statutory laws, and bestiality laws all are really based on a moral code. There is and always will be a segment of the population that feels that any laws forbidding those acts are "forcing someones view of morality" on them.
