| Hey Grace, How are ya? I hope you had a happy thanksgiving. Now I got a question for ya. Are women allowed to speak in church? I am wondering about that passage in the Word of God that says women are to keep silent in church. Could you explain that one to me. Sorry if it seems I am getting off topic here. To answer your question, I believe that is old test Law, which we were freed from by the blood of Christ. He is our rightiousness. In a perfect world (a world run the way God intended) man would love women the same way Christ loved the church, and in turn women should obey man the way we are to obey Christ. If BOTH these things are present, I believe there would be harmony between the sexes. Unfortunatly man has failed in this for the most part, and in turn, women were set up for failure as well. So to sum it up, IF we were living the way God intended, then I would have no problem submiting to Gods will in this matter. However obviously that isnt the case, and as women, we are left to pick up the slack, were man has failed. However disqualified we are to do so. I notice that there are many questions regarding pridefull disobediance, and man/womans unwillingness to submit to the will of God. But I think if somehow, we could just all come to agree to put ourselfs in the back seat, so to speak, (and I mean ALL of us, cause without everyone, it couldnt stand) and worked only for the kingdom, and submitted to the will of the Lord, we would all be better for it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Well Grace, I can follow your thinking some. And if God was to say that women are to keep silent in church and they do not, that would be prideful disobedience. But would that also mean that the woman who speaks up or fills the pulpit is NOT a Christian then? I wonder about that, cos you are saying that a person who is in disobedience to the Bible, as you believe it says, when engaging in a gay sexual relationship is NOT a Christian. And I am wondering if you would say Tristan is NOT a Christian but that a woman who speaks in Church is. And I do wonder how we sort out the word to know which infractions take away one's claim to be a Christ follower. And why. Thanks. And I had a lovely Thanksgiving, apart from getting over pneumonia yet. OhDear | |||||||||||||||||||||

| What verse is that from? It's usually helpful to read the verses surrounding a quote to get context. Like the verses that people claim The Bible advocated slavery actually made sense to me, and indicated the Bible did not in fact "advocate" slavery as the U.S. practiced. Well, I see where your going with this. There isnt a single christian who hasnt been willfully disobediant tward God in one way or another. But the thing that really stands out to me is, God dosent just call homosexuality a sin, he goes so far as to call it a abomination. Setting the bar higher in this subject. Another thing thats stands out to me is Jesus's end time warnings that men will exchange the truth of Gods word, for a lie. And that he will give them over to there lusts, and have unnatural relations with other men, and the same unnatural relationships will happen with women. Its said, these people believe in a form of Goddlyness, but denie the power there of. And from such people, turn away. To me, that describes these exact times we live in, and a person (like trist) fits the description to a tee. Now, will a women who speaks in church go to hell for it? (BTW, I dont think it means just to use your voice, but to speak out against the churches teachings, though I could be wrong about that) I dont know 100%, but I dont think so. I know this though, a true Christian (though he may stumble) seeks the will of God before his/her own. And to live a openly Gay life style in full knowledge that it is a abomination to him, cant be good. And I have to believe that he would send people to try to incourage folks to take the right path. " For just as the father has sent me, so I send you". | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Quote: See that's what I mean, that whole passage is a bunch of gobbledy gook. It reminds me of legalese. But it does look like it tells women to STFU. But don't "most" Churches interpret that as not having female ministers? That would make more sense in context. Don't get me trying to understand the Bible though. PLEEZE. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| To further what Grace said, I think in this case the Bible said don't steal. If you steal once, you might be okay. But if you are born with an affliction like Kleptomania, if you live your life as one, you cannot consider yourself a true Christian. How can you repent a sin that you are "living". Many laws are set up the same way in many states, "first time offenders" are given more lenient treatment than career offenders. | |||||||||||||||||||||
