Ah, there's the problem with our misunderstanding each other.

You see, I am not a Christian. I was brought up very strict Catholic, but God and I had a parting of the ways many years ago. Pretty bad break up, too. But I'm still a student of religion and belief, at least on an academic level. I find it interesting, the role it plays in people's lives.

My wife on the other hand, defines herself as a Christian. Not one of those holier than thou judgmental Christian-like people, but an actual love your brother, judge not lest ye be judged Christian.

So, we are raising our daughter to have an open and questioning mind, exposing her to Christianity and other belief systems, and answering her questions in ways that make her think, not conform. We don't know what role religion will play in her adult life, but we do know that it will be her informed decision to make.

So you try your controlling tactics on God too??

Now I don't feel so left out!

Did you break away from your Christian roots because you couldn't reconcile Christianity with your homosexual yearnings?

Isn't it confusing for your daughter to be pulled in different directions?

Yes, that was indeed the misunderstanding.

Some people, of course, oppose same-sex unions and homosexuality by quoting isolated verses from the Bible. I know where they are coming from. I was raised in the Catholic Church, but I think it is important to remember that the Bible was also used to defend slavery, wife-beating and the subordination of women. We no longer quote Bible verses to justify slavery and domestic violence

we also have to remember that King James was fighting to protect his throne from a homosexual (and fortune telling!) relative while the Bible was being revised to the King James Version. Think that MIGHT have had anything to do with the translations of the (admittedly, very very few) mentions of homosexuality and witches in his version of the Bible? LOL LOL LOL

There are certainly many scholars specializing in archaic languages who have disagreed strongly with the (admittedly, very very few) translation of parts about homosexuality.

Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance.

Bigotry is a social disease.

Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage."

Good point...

I used to have a site bookmarked that discussed the politics surrounding the compilation of the KJV.

Wish I still had it.

Studies show that daughters of lesbians do tend to be more sexually "adventurous".

Znet: Youth Watch
Girls raised by lesbians tended to be “more sexually adventurous and less chaste” than those raised by straight parents, while boys tended to be just the opposite.

That may be an issue.

The bible didn't specifically say "beat your friggin wife" in the same uncertain terms that it says "don't screw your own gender".
That comparison is weak.

It's not an issue at all.

The girls are more comfortable with their own sexuality because they live in a more open environment.

I think it is a good thing.
