OD, you hit the nail on the head with that observation...

Englishflower was in so many marriages, simply cause she was trying to live by the 'norms' society said she had to be in.

And that's the heart of the situation for our sisters and brothers in the GLBT communities. They're tired of living a life of fraud, 'just to fit in' with what others in society deem 'normal'.

They want the rights to live their lives to the fullest, just like the rest of us take for granted. And the only way they can do that, is to have the same exact rights to marry the person THEY CHOOSE TO MARRY, versus having the only choices of:

1. Marrying someone they won't be happy with (or won't be happy with them), thus resulting in unhappy marriages and divorces...

2. To have a relationship they have to hide/feel ashamed of with a person they do love because someone in society says their relationship is 'unnatural/sinful' or...

3. Having to live alone because as above, someone in society says their relationship is 'unnatural/sinful'.

We wouldn't tolerate hetrosexuals having their marriage rights and who they are in a relationship, dictated to them by someone else's beliefs/personal preferences. Yet some of those very same hetrosexuals don't think twice in trying to do what they wouldn't tolerate themselves, onto other couples they deem 'unnatural/sinful' for no other reason then personal preference or narrow-minded religious views.

You can still wound a heart with a blunt edge, Fx.

If your "opinion" is so valuable to you that you must wound others in an attempt to demonstrate yours, I have to wonder if you are really not as certain in your own convictions as you want to say you are.

I can share my opinions without being a mean and ruthless person. Can't I?

That hurt my feelings that you would infer that I'm not confident in myself...OK not really...But it could...But it didn't...But it might've.

You can, but your posts are all boring and flowery. No fun in that.

OhDear
Can't a guy just be an asshole if he wants. For someone who puts so much credence in people just being "who they are", if my true calling is to be an asshole, but I live in a land that asshole is un-PC, why can't I flex my un-PC asshole muscle on here? Or is asshole not a "normal variation" of human personality?

LOL, you two are funny. I think you could meet some place inbetween. OD usually ends up apoligizing for disagreeing with someone, while FX just doesnt care at all.

And it's all somebody else's fault??

I see a disturbing trend here................

Yep life is tough for pedophiles, zoophiles and those who yearn for incestuousness.

12? Someone needs to learn how to do math.

And seems at the same time FX, you're basing your 'judgement' off of lack of knowledge about any of the circumstances surrounding so-called 'failed number of marriages'...

I've only had 2 marriages that ended in divorce...And the only failing going on in those marriages were the men themselves, not me.

Not unless you condone and believe that a woman should stay in a marriage where her life is in danger, as well as the life of her children?

And if I remember correctly...OD's marriages also failed because of severe abuse towards herself and her own children?

In those cases, a 'failed marriage' would have been if someone had been murdered in that relationship...Rather then what actually did happen...Escaping such abuse and not having them end in a funeral and jail sentences...
