I disagree.

Fiction writers will often have traits for their characters that do not show up in the story. It's part of the creative process.

What functional place would his orientation have played in the main story? All of the teachers were essentially protrayed in a similar way. The only expression of any sexuality before the final book was when Hagrid was interested in the half-giant headmistress of the French School.

In books that are written for young people, the teachers usually have no outward sexuality. This does NOT mean that the writer has not established it, along with other traits, to create a well rounded individual.

You have to remember that this was a response to a question that a fan had asked about Dumbledore's love life.

It was perfectly reasonable considering the question.

When you really think of it most of the teachers have the same amout of male trates as female.Maybe kinda like the 2 sprite in the native american culture.
